SOFUN MEETING MINUTES
Date: September 26, 2013
Attendance: Marlene Stothers, Hope James, Val Pletch, Beth Nathaniel, Amutha Haslam, Carla Granger, Ann Nethercot, Danielle Faulkner, Kathy Hamara, Mary Salvarinas, Carl Gambacort
Chairs of Meeting: Natalie Cakebread and Krysta Taylor
The meetingwas called to order at 7:00pm, held in school library.
SOFUN EVENTS
Curriculum Night
-Ann to do event again next year.
-Val and Ann will do food for Party in the Playground.
-Event went smoothly, made $768, 10% down in numbers
-Switch from M&M meats to new supplier. Also, make switch for Party in the Playground.
Pizza Day
-Natalie will be counter. Beth to talk to her.
-2 times for deliveries. Lots of volunteers. Went smoothly.
QSP
-Ann is the lead on this.
-Flyers and packages to be put together week of September 30.
-Monkey them this year. Anyone with song/ideas to let Ann know.
-Everyone gets ice cream party.
Action: Ann to confirm QSP assembly dates/times.
Breakfast with Santa
-Krysta to do this year. Needs co-lead to help this year and take over for next year.
Action: Krysta to put something in newsletter.
Holiday Movie
-Dawn Madar and Danielle Faulkner to do this.
-Will check in with Mr. Newman regarding movies.
-Grades 4-6.
-Talk of renting popcorn machine this year to use up kernels.
Action: Natalie and Krysta to check popcorn expiry date. Check into rental of popcorn machine.
Dance-A-Thon
-Sue Coates to lead this.
Bingo
-Beginning of May. Natalie and Marlene to organize. Will look in options regarding #s for gym and possible new location.
Grandparents Day
-Gail and Caroline Marshall volunteered to lead this.
Party in the Playground
-Nicola and Shannon to do again. Date picked to make sure Pizza Pizza bouncy castle is available. Count tickets to see which station/event was popular to use for this year’s planning.
Grade 8 Grad
-Donna Trottier to lead. Will be Senior rep also on council.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
-$28,912
-Report was given to Krysta and Natalie
-Donate funds to charity from Sandy’s magnets from Party in the Playground.
OTHER BUSINESS:
SoFun Kitchen
Action: Krysta and Natalie to clean up and go through everything. Move leftovers supplies to SoFun room upstairs.
Action: Mary to follow up about termites found in the kitchen.
Family Movie Night
-Susan MacDonald to organize. Date is January 23, 2014
-Ideas are popcorn, pizza, pre order tickets to know #s attending.
-Action: Natalie/Krysta to make sure permit is in place.
Coat Drive
-Sandy to do this again.
-Note in newsletter and to collect in November.
Terry Fox
-This was not done this year. School is doing Jump Rope for Heart.
-Val to help teachers make Terry Fox run an event next year. Early in the school year.
Centennial Committee
-Need lead. Event will be 2015.
Action: Krysta to put ad in newsletter to get a lead on this.
