Software Overview

FastSync 3780 from CTI is a very fast, easy to install, easy to use, powerful, and feature rich 3780/2780 IBM Remote Job Entry (RJE) bisynchronous file transfer program for Micro-to-Mainframe, Mainframe-to-Micro, and PC-to-PC communication applications.

The basic 3780 code was initially developed in the 1970s and has now matured into a true third generation software product. FastSync 3780 was designed for absolutely error free, reliable, maximum high speed data transfers. It operates not only over standard analog type Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) lines, but also over digital ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) Basic Rate Interface (BRI) lines.

Key Purchase Considerations

  1. Competitively priced software and hardware. Lowest packaged cost in the industry.
  2. Very fast (fastest known in the industry) - can save substantial time and money over long distance telephone lines.
  3. Performs unattended, auto dial and auto answer file transfers any time, day or night.
  4. Easy to learn, to use and to understand.
  5. Powerful scripting language for streamlining commands.
  6. Knowledgeable and efficient technical support.
  7. Special "hooks" available for software houses. FastSync 3780 uses the same commands for both sync and async data communications.

STRUCTURED AROUND THE USER'S NEEDS

Windows FastSync consists of two parts, a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) and an application that presents the user's interface along with access to the features of our DLL. Customizing the appearance or behavior of the application or incorporating FastSync into your company's own applications is easy, since all 3780 functionality is contained within a separate DLL.

SIMPLIFIEDUSERINTERFACEFORINTERACTIVESESSIONS.

The main screen gives the user a choice between an interactive session and running, creating or modifying command files. During interactive sessions, a simplified user interface gives each user access to dialing, auto answer, sending and receiving files.

COMMANDBUFFERINGININTERACTIVEMODE

During Interactive Sessions, commands can be queued in advance without having to wait for one command to complete before starting another command. For example, users can enter commands to send or to receive data while the modem is dialing a remote computer.

PHONENUMBERSMAINTAINED IN ADROP-DOWN LIST

After a phone number is entered during an interactive session, the phone number and a description of the remote are automatically added to a drop down list. Descriptions can be added when the phone number is entered or when the session is over. Phone numbers without descriptions are not added to the list.

The description can either precede the phone number, or can follow it. For example, both of the following examples are legitimate phone numbers:

XYX Corporation 1-222-555-1212 or

1-222-555-1212 XYX Corporation

RECEIVEFILENAMES IN A DROP DOWN LIST.

Once a Receive file name has been entered, it is automatically added to a drop down list which can be used to select receive file names during future sessions.

The most recently used receive file names are always at the top of your list.

TechnicalDefinitions:

BSC (Binary Synchronous Communications) is the protocol using binary data between mainframe computer systems and IBM 2780 and 3780 Remote Job Entry terminals (now used almost exclusively on PCs). 3780 BSC is widely used in many market niches like: Retail (outlets like Wal-Mart and TARGET); Banking and Credit Unions; Collection Agencies; Electronic Data Interchange (EDI); EC (Electronic commerce), Government IRS (electronic tax filing); credit card verifications; Automotive (CAD file transfers); and other markets. Data characters are gathered in a package called a frame that is marked by two (bi) start and stop synchronization bits. It operates with EBCDIC or ASCII character sets.

Asynchronous Transmission - a method of communications between computers whereby data bytes are separated from each other by preceding each with one or two start bits and following each one with a stop bit. Bytes may be sent at irregular intervals. (Note - in synchronous transmission, a clock is used instead of start and stop bits).

RJE (Remote Job Entry) - a method of submitting work to and from a computer (usually a mainframe system) in either a batch "3780" (BSC) or a "3770" (SNA) format, though sometimes superseded by the 3270 interactive (versus a Batch) system.
