Perris Valley Pony Baseball and Softball House Rules SOFTBALL 8UDivision

Players of league age 7 and 8 as per PONY regulations.

1. Distance between bases is 50 feet.

2. Pitching is 30 feet from home plate.

3. Fields are to be marked with a circle surrounding the pitcher’s mound, 8 feet in radius.

4. A line at 10 feet from first or third base shall be placed on the field. Defensive players may not encroach in this area until pitched ball crosses home plate

GAME DURATION

1. No new innings may start after one hour and 15 minutes of play. Six innings maximum.

2. An inning started must be completed, unless the time limit has expired and the home team is at bat and ahead.

3. Maximum 5 runs per team / per inning.

4. No Mercy Rule in effect. The game is played until time has expired (even if mathematically one team cannot catch up with the other team).

5. Score is kept, not no standings will be kept

PITCHING

1. Maximum two innings per game.

2. Maximum four innings in a calendar week.

3. No walks allowed in this division. Player pitcher will throw until a strike out, a hit or ball four occurs. When ball four occurs the coach pitcher will come in and pitch remaining strikes left in count if batter fouls off the third strike they keep batting until hit no swing or strike three.

4. Player Pitcher: Both of the pitcher’s feet must be in contact with the pitchers plate to begin the delivery. The first step must be forward and toward home plate, not backwards. PENALTY: 1st time warning all others will be a ball.

5. Coach Pitcher: After the ball is hit, the pitcher must move to the opposite side of the field were the ball is hit.

6. Coach Pitcher: Can not communicate with the players on the field.

7. As soon as a pitcher delivers one pitch to a batter the pitcher shall be considered as having pitched in one inning

PLAYING RULES

1. CONTINUOUS BATTING ORDER, regardless of defensive play. The batting order is established by the manager on the line-up sheet given to the home team’s official scorekeeper.

2. MUST PLAY RULE: Each player listed on the game’s roster will play every other inning on defense. PENALTY: Upon notification to the umpire by the opposing manager, the manager in violation will be ejected for the remainder of this game, PLUS the following game.

3 Ten players may be used defensively. Four players in the outfield.

4 The outfield is designated as starting ten feet beyond the base line. All outfielders must be in the outfield each time a pitch is made.

5. If an attempt to get a runner out results in an overthrow, all runners may advance one base on over throws to first or third,

6. Once a runner has stopped at 3rd base and in the umpires judgment play has stopped the runner can only score by a batted ball. Runners may not steal home on a pass ball.

7. No leading off. A runner must remain in contact with the base until the ball passes the pitchers hip. PENALTY: Runner is out. Ball is called dead.

8. When the pitcher is in possession of the ball (in the circle), and in the opinion of the umpire all play has stopped, the umpire shall call time.

9. A ball thrown back to the pitcher, from the catcher is a dead ball.

10. BUNTING: Not permitted. PENALTY: Pitch is a strike and the ball is dead.

11.No infield fly rule.

12.Dropped third strike rule does not apply.

13.Throwing bats is not permitted. 1st offense will be a warning. 2nd offense may be called out. (Umpire judgment).
