Society for Socialist Studies (SSS) - Travel Grant Application 2016
The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) has eliminated its Aid and Attendance Grants to Scholarly Associations. In the past, the Society for Socialist Studies has receivedfunds,through this program,from SSHRC to disperse for purposes oftravel to Congress participants who are presenting papers in SSSsessions.
In an attempt to partially fill the void created by this lack of external funding, the Society for Socialist Studies is allocating a limited amount of financial resources to maintain a system of travel grants for our members. The continuation of this funding in future years will be dependent upon our financial status and ability to raise funds.
We are not in a position to fund the entire cost oftravel/accommodations for any of our members.You are strongly encouraged to apply for travel support from othersources. Given our limited funds, we will give priority to applications from low-income individuals, studentsand contract faculty (particularly those without access to other funds from their universities). We regret that we will not be able to provide any travel or accommodation assistance to local participants (living within 200 km of the Congress site).
Only Society members are eligible for our travel grant awards. You are required to update, or initiate, your membership (which can be done at Congress) in order to qualify to have an award dispersed to you at Congress.
