26th Annual Meeting

ANNOUNCEMENT

The 26th Annual Meeting of the Society for Scientific Exploration will be held in East Lansing, Michigan, May 31 - June 2, 2007 (Thursday through Saturday). Local arrangements are being coordinated by Mark Urban-Lurain. Roger Nelson chairs the Program Committee.

The conference hotel is the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center, Michigan State University, 55 South Harrison Road, East Lansing, MI 48824-1022, telephone: (517) 432-4000, toll-free reservation Line: (800) 875-5090. A large block of rooms has been reserved for the SSE at a special conference rate of $89/night for either a single or double room. Reservations must be made by May 1, 2007 to receive this rate. Ask for the SSE block when making reservations.

Michigan State University's campus is beautiful in the spring, with lovely walks and gardens. The Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center possesses a unique cultural atmosphere and convenient access to sporting activities and Lansing area attractions including the Michigan State Capitol. The Lansing airport (LAN) is served by Northwest, Continental, United, and Delta. There is also a shuttle bus service from the Detroit airport (DTW) to East Lansing, see Michiganflyer.com.

A welcoming reception will be held at the hotel on Wednesday, May 30, starting at 6 PM. The SSE's traditional recreational excursion and evening banquet will be combined in a private cruise on the Michigan Princess Riverboat. The registration fee for the meeting will be $170 ($185 after May 4). The cost of the banquet and riverboat excursion (including transportation to and from) will be $50.

The Society encourages the attendance of students and young investigators, and the meetings are open to the public. There is a special, reduced registration fee for students at this meeting. Please encourage students from your area to come.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The overall theme of the meeting is "Pushing Scientific Boundaries: Interactions, Intersections, Interventions." Invited speakers will help define themes to be developed further by our own SSE membership, and the program will include papers assessing progress and social/political issues in areas of longstanding interest to SSE members. All conference meetings will be held in the Kellogg Center.

Free-wheeling discussion of program topics will be the focus of evening meetings of

members and invited speakers.

Contributed Papers

Contributed papers by full members on any topic of interest to the Society are, as always,

welcome. Papers related to the themes of the meeting will be grouped with relevant invited talks when possible. A poster session may be provided for selected papers oron request.

Titles and abstracts for contributed papers should be sent to the Program Chairman: Roger Nelson, E-mail: . Electronic submission is required. The Title should be short and informative. Please include Author name and Affiliation, and contact information. Abstracts should be 300 to 500 words (one page of single spaced text), and should summarize the main points of the paper. Plain text as the body of the e-mail is preferred. If special formatting is required for intelligibility, please submit a Word document.

The cutoff date for submissions is March 31, 2007. Submissions received subsequent to that date may be considered for presentation subject to the availability of time in the program.

European Meeting – August 17 to August 19, 2007

The seventh biennial European meeting will be held in Roros, Norway. Erling Strand is the

local host. The meeting hotel is the Quality Hotel & Resort in Roros, Norway.Roros is

located 35 km South-South East of the Hessdalen Valley in Sor-Trondelag County. The

Hessdalen Valley is well known for the many sightings of the strange "Hessdalen

Phenomena" (which many people call UFO or Earth Lights). There will be a tour to

Hessdalen during the meeting.

Titles and abstracts of Contributed Papers should be sent by May 24th to the Program Chair: Erling Strand, Ostfold College, Remmen, NO-1757 Halden, Norway ().
