Social Committee Notes from meeting on 3-5-07

Family Bingo Night Update- there were 26 people there. Feedback was to buy prizes for the kids vs. gift cards. Also, to buy more prizes since there were several games where there were multiple winners. May do again in the future…..

HOA update- There are very detailed notes from the meeting that will appear with the Grande Life magazine that will be delivered at the end of the month. They would have gone out with these materials, but our envelopes were already full for mailing.

DuPage Children’s Museum update- Although the weather was horrible that day, the turnout was fantastic! There were about 80 people there- 27 adults and 51 kids. They did art projects, had 4 exhibits that they brought, had refreshments, a video and raffled off a basket full of things from the gift shop as well as 2 gift cards to the gift shop. They are interested in maybe doing it again in the future, but may charge a small fee next time.

Safety Video for Kids- about 20 some people were there as well as a police officer to talk about the video and keeping the kids safe. There was such a great response and such positive feedback from those who attended.

St. Pat’s craft- 10 kids showed up to make a “treasure box”. We will offer a Mother’s Day craft on Sunday, May 6th at 2pm. More details to follow. For this, we would like dad or another caregiver, not mom, bring the kids, as they will make a gift for mom and box and wrap it during this time.

Blood Drive- so far there are 42 people NOT including those who have RSVP’d to Life Source directly. We are hoping to have even more, including walk-ins that day.

Easter Egg Hunt- the RSVP’s are coming in slowly, as expected, as it is still early. Most of the prizes for the “bunny money” and “Golden tickets” have been purchased, as well as some candy and all the “trinkets” for the eggs. An additional 4,000 eggs have been purchased to anticipate a large crowd. We will fill according to how many RSVP though. We are having an Egg Filling party on Friday, March 23rd at 7pm at the clubhouse. Food and drinks will be served! Come help us stuff all these eggs!! J RSVP to Chris at if you can attend!!!

More details to follow. If you are interested in taking this several week class, contact her at 815-254-2658 or .

Babysitters for meetings- it was brought up that since SC offers a sitter for each meeting, that if no one comes with children, that the sitter will still receive $5 for their time. The group voted and all agreed we would do that.

Resignations- Michelle Thompson and Chris Howe announced their resignation from all SC responsibilities. With Michelle pregnant and due April 9th and Chris working full time, having 3 sons with active extra-curricular activities and wanting to focus spending time on getting the new Grande Park elementary school started, now was the time. They both will finish out the month, ending with the Easter Egg Hunt. There are many duties that need to be filled in their absence in order for the SC to continue normally. Please see the newsletter for the list. If interested in filling in as lead for these duties, call Christie Capalety at 630-455-3017.
