SNA Executive Committee Meeting Minutes Friday, July 15th, 2016

  1. Committee Reports
  • Food Committee
  • The SNA Food Committee is collaborating with Silver Grove to fill the gap in food insecurity in the community. Other concernssurround how to engage the community creatively. Possibilities of a mobile pantry have been discussed.
  • The Food Committee discussed the possibility of creating a cook book for distribution to clients to assist with meal preparation of fresh produce and pantry items. The UK cooperative extension service currently offers recipe cards and calendars.
  • The next SNA Food committee Meeting will be Wednesday, September 14th, 2016 from 12:00-1:30 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
  • Website Committee
  • Numbers are down overall, and the numbers of alerts posted are up; members have been asked to whitelist the SNA email address if they are still experiencing difficulty receiving alerts.
  • Melissa Hall-Sommer and Barbara Schaefer will confirm a meeting with Clermont County SNA.
  • The Web Committee will seek a student form the NKU Informatics department to assess the needs of the SNA web portal moving forward.
  • Friday updates to the SNA general membership were introduced one month ago; the committee has moved to change the weekly update to Mondays.
  • The next SNA Website Committee Meeting will be Tuesday, August 9th, 2016 from 8:15 -10:00 AM at Brighton Family Center, Newport.
  • Work Supports
  • The SNA Work Supports group is currently focusing on specific areas of support, Transportation, ACA and KTAP/SNAP/CCAP. The goal of the committee is to bring awareness, educate, and advocate in these specific areas. The committee is currently working on a grid developed by Melissa Hall-Sommer, and will develop a dashboard to be placed on the SNA portal to tell the story of the SNA.
  • Jena Bradley suggested placing large and small post it’s at the next two SNA meetings to ask SNA member’s opinions on specifically what makes, or would help make the SNA successful.
  • The next SNA Work Supports meeting will be Friday, August 3rd, 2016 from 12:00-2:00 PM at Brighton Family Center, Newport.
  • Housing Task Force
  • The SNA Housing Task Force has two projects currently in the works; the first project is compiling information on Landlords; the discussion is around how to bring more landlords to the table. The Landlord Survey has been posted and updated to ask permissions to use data collected from the survey for public distribution. The second project is around compiling all SNA agencies housing list and importing to one Google doc.
  • The next SNA Housing Task Force meeting will be Tuesday, August 5th, from2:00-3:00PM at Brighton Family Center.
  • Furniture Task Force
  • Melissa Hall-Sommer reported that she recently discovered St. Vincent DePaul has had a program called Sweet Dreams that has been operating for the last 15 years; Sweet Dreams NKY through the Safety Net Alliance( in association with the AmeriCorps Build a Bed) will be seeking a new name moving forward.
  • Talia Frye will be scheduling a meeting of the SNA Furniture Task Force for August or September.
  1. Protocols-Review with Bob and Andy at the August meeting, protocols, review revised protocols discussed in 2015, and move forward with the Evergreen Agreement for SNA membership.
  2. BB&T Grants-Melissa Hall-Sommer reported that we will need three bids by IT sub-contractors for a grant proposal. The SNA will file for a grant to hire a consultant in the next quarter.
  3. Full SNA Meeting-Mona Morrow WCPO-July or August. TBD
  4. Next SNA-EC meeting: Review Protocols and Data
