Smyrna Middle School Track 2017
Track season begins Tuesday, February 21st (first practice), and typically lasts until Tuesday, April 18 (County Championship Meet), unless there is advancement to the sectionals or state meets.
Practices
Track practice will be held after school Monday-Thursday until 4:50.
There will be no practice or meets on the following days:
-Thursday, March 23rd (Parent-teacher conferences)
-Week of March 27th- March 31st (Spring Break week)
The last team practice of the 2017 season will be Wednesday, April 12th.
Meets
The following dates are our 2017 scheduled meets and locations. All track meets begin at 4:30. All athletes need to arrive by 4:00 to warm up before meets.
· Tuesday, March 14th— Eagleville High School
· Monday, March 20th— Blackman High School
· Thursday, April 6th—Stewarts Creek High School
· Thursday, April 13th—Stewarts Creek or LaVergne High School
· April 17th & 18th – Blackman HS (All schools county meet)
Athlete attendance at the meets is free. Attendance for anyone except athletes costs $5.
Athlete Participation
· All student athletes are expected to maintain good grades and behavior to participate on the Smyrna Middle School track team. If a student receives any grade lower than a C average on the 3rd nine weeks’ report card, he or she will not be allowed to participate on the Smyrna Middle track team.
· If a student receives ISS or OSS during track season, he or she will not be allowed to participate on the Smyrna Middle track team.
· If a student misses more than two practices without a valid excuse, he or she will no longer be a part of the Smyrna Middle track team.
· Student athletes will be provided with a uniform and warm-up suit free of charge. Both the uniform and warm-ups must be returned clean and free of damage at the end of track season.
Parents, please read the information above, sign, and return the lower portion by Tuesday, February 21st, 2017.
