Network event organised by SMDG at the Hotel

Specific agenda:

SMDG

Code List Items workshop (1h-1 H 30)

1Terminal Facilities List

One terminal – different UNLOCODE‘s

Reason: multiple UNLOCODE’s for the same port

 metropolitan code, municipal code

In the SMDG Master Terminal facilities list there are currently 2 columns for UNLOCODE’s: a leading one and an alternative one. This gives a certain flexibility to the users to adjust to the codes required in different areas, consortia, trades or services.

Special case China

Change of Chinese UNLOCODE’s:

  • Split up the codes for a metropolitan area (e.g. Shanghai)  3 codes
  • airport, port and one code covering all functions for the metropolitan region
  • “Old” UNLOCODE’s are now assigned to the airports
  • For shipping: two codes remain (metropolitan + port)

Today: majority of the shipping industry still uses the old codes, which means the airport codes

Task: to find a rule for the leading code (first column) and the alternative code (second column) including consideration of the special case “China”.

2Handling Code List

Special properties (empty containers) - ITIGG Codes, SMDG codes

Discussion came up in connection with “special properties” for empty container handling.

To do: Review of

ITIGG document “CODES FOR USE IN THE FREE TEXT (FTX) SEGMENT OF THE UN/EDIFACT CONTAINER MESSAGES (JM4/ITIGG/120/v16, update version: JM4/ITIGG/120/v17), which is refered to in COPARN, COPRAR

  • covers de4441/C107/FTX and HAN segment

the SMDG handling code list created within the context of BAPLIE 3.x

  • de1131/C502/HAN

A proposal prepared by Heidi and Söhnke will be presented

3Liner codes

  • Duplicate codes (yellow)
  • Rules (to be discussed)
  • No duplicates
  • Include or exclude NVOCC’s?
  • Keep current 3 char codes / more char if NVOCC’s included?
  • Liners who are becoming aware of this codeslist now want to change their code – since they have been using different codes

Wanted: a volunteer for revision and continous maintenance of the list! Arthur propose himself

4BIC Code LOCODEs (Inland Depot List)

Workgroup established – status review by Patrick/Jorn?

SMDG

Web Service sub group workshop(2 H)

1SMDG Webservice Design Guideline / Basic Principles

A 2nd f2f meeting was held in Hamburg on 08 March 2018. As outcome of that meeting, please find attached the enhanced "Deliverables" document, with changes marked red. The to dos are clearly marked…

Please also find a first draft for the SMDG Webservice Design Guideline / Basic Principles.

Please read the documents to be prepared for our workgroup meeting in Paris on 11 April.

2Next Steps:

Regarding the CCL/MMT to be used for description of input+output data of the Webservice. We did not have sufficient information at hand how to work with CCL/MMT. Meanwhile Peter provided a link to the UN/Cefact MMT (thank you Peter!) which is included in para 3 of the Deliverables document.

Nevertheless it still leaves some questions how to use in real life.

Ray and Peter, would eventually prepare a presentation on CCL/MMT usage for the Paris meeting? Aconference call can be done before the meeting

3Webservice pilotcandidates

In Paris we should finally agree which will be the candidates, and also agree on the input+ooutput data.

Discuss the reference implementation:

- in a sand box provided by Ray ?

- in a future SMDG portal? Arthur?

- SMDG could act as a “Proxy” - Peter please explain to the workgroup.

- Shall the Webservice pilots be executable in the sandbox, for public access? From which database should they read?

4SMDG Webservice Design Guideline Draft

We need input and feedback from the technical experts please.

Target for the Paris meeting

The above itemsand to dos to be agreed on, and the two attached documents should be finalized so that they be published on the SMDG website. This way we can attract more attention to this topic, and that is crucial for a new standard to become accepted!

And of course Roadmap and Timeline for the next months.

Your contribution will be appreciated!
