TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

SMART Recovery® is an international, non-profit organization which offers a non-religious, science-based mutual support program. It is an excellent adjunct to treatment and offers tools, support and coping skills, based on principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Motivational Enhancement Techniques, all offered in a warm, caring community of peers trying to better their lives.

In addition to meetings conducted by trained facilitators, in both local and online venues, SMART attendees may choose to participate in our worldwide online community which includes online meetings, 24/7 chat support, thoughtful message board forums and many resources designed to encourage people to give and get support in practicing the tools SMART offers. We are pleased to offer meeting attendance verification.

The SMART Recovery 4-Point Program® focuses on:

●  Building and Maintaining Motivation

●  Coping with Urges

●  Managing Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviors

●  Living a Balanced Life

SMART Recovery’s approach is directly in line with SAMHSA’s commitment to ensuring a person-centered approach to recovery and strongly advocates the availability of meaningful choice in treatment and support.

A printable fact sheet which provides more detailed about the SMART Recovery program can be found here: SMART Flyer. Please be invited to visit our website, www.smartrecovery.org to see a wealth of information about our organization and approach.

You may find our section for the courts interesting. It is a compilation of recent court cases related to choice in recovery: SMART Court Cases page. We hope to assist the courts in providing meaningful help to those with addiction issues and to benefit our communities by promoting social and personal responsibility to reduce recidivism due to substance abuse.

We would be delighted to speak to you if you have any questions about SMART and how we can help you.

Sincerely,

SMART Recovery® Court Outreach Team (866) 951-5357
