Business Advisor – Deming Satellite Office
General Summary:
The Business Advisor's role in accomplishing the SBDC mission is to serve as a consultant to small business clients to help them begin a business and/or to encourage growth and sustainability of a small business; and to represent the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in the community. The Business Advisor reports to the SBDC Center Director and works as an SBDC team member.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Delivers technical and management assistance to the small business community through a variety of contact methods, including face-to-face sessions, email, phone, and online video communication.
- Prepares materials and content for workshops and presentations for the SBDC client base. This may include planning, scheduling, marketing and conducting trainings; and reporting on training evaluation.
- Maintains SBDC client database in a timely manner, including entering counseling notes and progress reports; uploading documents; and collecting and entering other data as required.
- Stays abreast of general business conditions and changes in regulations/laws affecting small business.
- Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field; or seven years’ experience in business
- Entrepreneurial or business operations experience
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and internet use
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel within the SBDC service area
- Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state to attend meetings and conference
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a consulting or advisory role, or similar customer handling role
- Proficiency in Spanish
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements: Driver’s license
Work Hours: 8am-5pm
