(Slovenian Genealogy Presentation and Workshop)

Workshop: 1:30 – 3:30 pm

The Twin Cities Slovenians will showcase genealogy at our May 17th meeting. The morning meeting will feature Peter Hawlina, founder and president of the Slovenian Genealogical Society in Slovenia as well as Rose Marie Jisa, President of Slovenian Genealogical Society International and Terry Rupar, President of the Iron Range chapter of the Slovenian Genealogical Society International. The afternoon workshop will provide individual help for your genealogy questions, problems and roadblocks. Those who wish to participate in the workshop will have the opportunity consult with one of our experts one-to-one. There will also be exhibits, handouts and genealogy material to help you in your search.

Sessions

·  Afternoon Individual Research / Help sessions will be max 20 minutes in length.

·  Register for the workshop by emailing the following information to no later than Tuesday, May 13.

a.  Your name

b.  The town in Slovenia from where your family emigrated (if known)

c.  What you would like to discuss with our experts

·  Registrants will be assigned to an expert; the workshop schedule will be emailed to participants by Friday, May 16. We will also do our best to accommodate late registrations if workshop slots are still open.

·  Bring helpful information about your family. This can include family trees you have created, documents such as birth/death/baptismal certificates. Attached are two data collection documents which may be of assistance in starting or continuing your research:

a.  Family Group Data can be filled out for each family.

b.  Ancestry Chart can contain the information on family relationships and related data.
