Slide 5 - Enhancements Overview

Slide notes

In release 9, Performance Management has added matrix management functionality. This functionality provides the matrix manager with equivalent visibility as the line manager to view worker, participant, and line manager’s feedback.

Slide 6 - Matrix Management Support

Slide notes

As the matrix manager evaluates the worker, she can view the submitted ratings, comments, and questionnaire responses from the worker and other evaluators. Once the line manager has submitted his ratings, the matrix manager can view his ratings too. If the Share Performance Document task is included in the process flow, the matrix manager does not have to wait until the line manager has shared the document with the worker to see the line manager’s ratings. Instead, the matrix manager can see the ratings as soon as the line manager has submitted them. Note that the overall rating provided by the performance document manager is the official performance rating.

Slide notes

The system can be configured so that the worker’s matrix manager is automatically added as an evaluator of the worker. Line managers can also manually add participants and associate them with the role that can view submitted ratings and comments. Additionally, the line manager can remove any matrix manager that has been automatically added as an evaluator. These changes are done in the Manage Participant Feedback task.

Another configuration option allows the matrix manager to access the worker’s performance document as soon as the document is created. If this option is not selected, the line manager must send a feedback request to the matrix manager which then gives the matrix manager access to the worker’s document.

Slide notes

Now you are able to have your matrix managers participate in evaluating a worker in much the same manner as the direct line manager does. The matrix manager has full visibility into the evaluation and can view the worker’s self evaluation and the participant feedback as she evaluates the worker. When the line manager has completed his evaluation, the matrix manager can also view the line manager’s ratings and comments and will have full visibility to the final performance document

Slide 18 - Summary of Enhancement Capabilities

Slide notes

To summarize matrix management support:

Allows matrix managers to view submitted ratings from worker, line manager and other participants.

Matrix manager can automatically be added as an evaluator.

Matrix managers can access the document as soon as the document is created.

Slide notes

In the performance template, a configuration option has been added to auto-populate any matrix managers that are defined on the worker’s assignment record as secondary evaluators of the worker. These auto-populated matrix managers will be assigned the default participant role that is entered.

An additional configuration option will allow the matrix manager to have access to the worker’s performance document as soon as it is created. The line manager does not need to send a participant notification to the matrix manager giving them access to the document. If this option is not selected, the line manager must send a notification to the matrix manager via the Manage Participant Feedback task in order for the matrix manager to access the worker’s document.

Notes

Slide notes

In the performance template, you must add the matrix manager role to each section for which she can evaluate the worker and view ratings and comments from other evaluators and worker. The matrix manager can only evaluate workers and view ratings and comments from other evaluators in the sections she can access. Note that it is not possible to give the matrix manager access to Worker or Manager Final Feedback sections.
