SK Telecom also signed an MOU with China Unicom in 2005 to cooperate in six major areas including joint sourcing of handsets and platform development and also purchased convertible bonds of the company. Last year, SK Telecom convertedthe bonds into full shares, rising to become the second largest shareholder, 6.6%, of China Unicom. At the same time, SK Telecom has continuously developed new convergence business opportunities in China by acquiring Shenzhen E-eye High Tech and also purchasing a stake in a music recording company, Beijing Taihe & Rye Music.
