FLEX TAPE® adhesives may resist bonding to plasticized materials, siliconized, greasy, oily, dirty or porous surfaces, waterproof or water-repellent materials. Certain fabrics such as canvas, nylon, polyester, synthetics, cotton and some other materials may need up to 24 hours to reach maximum hold.

Q: How do I apply FLEX TAPE®?

A: FLEX TAPE® is so easy to use! Just cut, peel, stick, and seal!

CUT: Leave backing on tape and cut to desired dimension. Use high quality scissors or razor blade when cutting.

  • PEEL: Remove backing and apply to a clean surface.
  • STICK: Press down firmly on a clean surface. Using your fingers, plastic squeegee or roller, press down firmly and remove any air pockets. Continue pressing firmly and allow to remain on the surface. FLEX TAPE’s bond will increase with time and pressure and in some cases, may need up to 24 hours to reach maximum hold. Once fully bonded, FLEX TAPE® cannot be repositioned.

A: FLEX TAPE® can be cut with a pair of high quality, sharp scissors or a razor blade.

Q: Does FLEX TAPE® take time to bond?

Q: Can I apply FLEX TAPE™ to a wet surface?

A: Yes, FLEX TAPE® adhesive is so strong it can be applied to most wet surfaces….it can even be applied underwater! Just be sure to continue to apply firm pressure.

Q: What surfaces will FLEX TAPE™ adhere to?

A: FLEX TAPE® will have excellent adhesion on many surfaces including PVC, acrylic, metal, steel, copper, aluminum, wood, ceramic, porcelain, tile, glass, rubber, fiberglass, stucco, plaster, stone, cement, concrete, dry wall, EPDM roofs, some plastics, fabrics, vinyls and so much more! Q: Can I paint over FLEX TAPE®?

Q: I’m trying to adhere FLEX TAPE® to fabric but it’s not sticking. Is there anything I can do to prep the surface?

A: Some customers have found it helpful to first prep a fabric surface with Flex Seal® aerosol, let it dry, and then apply FLEX TAPE®. FLEX TAPE™ can be heated with a standard hair dryer to help the adhesive bond with the fabric. Also, continued firm pressure and time will help increase adhesion.

Q: Can I use FLEX TAPE® on my radiator hose?

A: No. We do not recommend using FLEX TAPE® on radiator hoses.

Q: Can I use FLEX TAPE™ on a tank used to hold gas or oil?

A: No. We do not recommend using FLEX TAPE® on a gas or oil tank.

Q: Can I use FLEX TAPE™ to repair a car or bicycle tire?

A: No. We do not recommend using FLEX TAPE® to repair tires due to the extreme pressure.

Q: Can I use FLEX TAPE® on a container that holds water for drinking?

A: FLEX TAPE® has not been tested on potable drinking water.

Q: What is the maximum pressure FLEX TAPE™ can withstand?

A: The maximum pressure FLEX TAPE™ can withstand will vary based on the substrate and the conditions under which FLEX TAPE™ is applied. It’s always best to test a small area first.

Q: If I’m using FLEX TAPE® to patch an above ground pool, is it best to apply the FLEX TAPE® to the inside or the outside of the pool?

A: Both! FLEX TAPE® forms a super strong bond with itself, so if you’re patching a pool it’s best to first apply FLEX TAPE® to the interior side of the pool wall and then place a second piece of FLEX TAPE® to the exterior. Remember that you should cut your FLEX TAPE® larger than the area of the leak. You do not need to drain the pool prior to applying FLEX TAPE™. FLEX TAPE® is a temporary, emergency repair and is not meant to be a permanent fix.

Q: Can I use FLEX TAPE® to repair an air mattress or inflatable?

A: FLEX TAPE® can be used as a temporary, emergency repair to an air mattress or inflatable. FLEX TAPE’s bond will increase with time and pressure and in some cases, may need up to 24 hours to reach maximum hold. FLEX TAPE® may not bond with all materials. Always test before use.

Helpful Hints

Tip #1:For maximum adhesion in porous surfaces, using a standard blow dryer will help the adhesives bond with the surface. Continued firm pressure will help increase adhesion.

Tip #2:FLEX TAPE® adhesion will increase with time and pressure. Porous surfaces may need up to 24 hours of extra pressure to reach maximum adhesion.

Tip #3:If you are looking to repair a leaky hose, follow the steps below:

First, cover the leak with a small patch of FLEX TAPE®, slightly bigger than the hole or tear in the hose, using firm pressure to get rid of all of the air bubbles. Then take a second piece of FLEX TAPE™ and wrap it all the way around the hose, covering the patch. FLEX TAPE® is a temporary, emergency repair and is not meant to be a permanent fix. FLEX TAPE® may not bond to all hoses.

Tip #4:FLEX TAPE™ may resist bonding to the following:

Some highly plasticized materials, siliconized surfaces, greasy, oily or dirty surfaces, waterproof repellant surfaces, porous surfaces and some fabrics. Always test before use.
