· The lowest homework grade and test or quiz grade in each subject will be dropped prior to each semester report card.
· In order to receive credit for any assignment it must have an appropriate heading. An appropriate heading is written on the top right corner of the lined paper and must include the following: First and Last Name, Date, Subject, Class Group, Assignment Title. See example on the following page.

Getting to Know You Exercise

Be completed using a navy blue or black ink pen /pencil

Guidelines for Incomplete and Below a C Average AssignmentsAll students will be given an opportunity to improve their initial grades earned that falls below a C. Students need to complete the assignment and turn it in the following day for a 70% grade. / Guidelines for Incomplete or Missed Assignments
Students need to complete the assignment and turn it in the following day for a 70% grade. If the student does not take the opportunity to improve their grade then and only then will a 0% be issued.
Guidelines for Tests and Quizzes Below a C Average
Students who earn a 69% or below on a test or quiz, will have the opportunity to take an alternative exam. The teacher will assign a time and date for students to retake the assessment. If the student does not take the opportunity to improve their grade or does not achieve a 70% on the alternative test, then and only then will a failing grade will be issued.
Homework / Projects
Homework is typically assigned 5 times per week. The homework assignments will be written on the white board in class each day and posted on the school’s website. It will usually be due the next class unless otherwise indicated. Students are expected to use the website or contact their homework partners (study buddies) to determine missing work when absent. Additional handouts for missed work may be retrieved from the designated area in the classroom or downloaded when available from the website. / Students will be assigned several projects per semester. Some projects will be individual and others may be completed and presented in a group. Some projects will require outside research. A grading rubric with project expectations and due date will be sent home prior to each assignment.
Materials:
All school supplies must be brought to class every day unless notified by teacher. This course syllabus should be placed in plastic paper protectors in a binder for a quick reference throughout the year.

Dear TMLA Family:
My name is Mrs. Grant. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with your son or daughter in humanities and science classes. With your encouragement, your child will participate in and enjoy many exciting and rewarding experiences.
I have developed a classroom discipline plan which guides every student to make good decisions about his or her behavior. Your child deserves the most positive educational climate possible for his or her growth. I know that together we will make a difference in this process. The plan below outlines my classroom expectations, positive recognition for appropriate behavior and consequences for inappropriate behavior.

Students names will be listed on the “Star Student” wall in recogniton of stellar behavior. Phone calls will be made, and praise notes will be sent home.
Consequences
First time a student breaks a rule: Documented Warning
Second time: Written Reflection Assigned
Third time: Detention
Fourth time: Referral to the office
Fifth time: Parent, Student, Teacher Conference
** Serious infractions (fighting, defiance, blantant disrespect, etc.) will be referred to the main office immediately. **
