ZineWest ‘16– ART AWARDInfo
Visual artists16 years and over with a Western Sydney connection are invited to submit up to three images created in the last 18 months period. There is no set theme however we ask you to tell us in a few sentences about the image’s composition and inspiration.
ZineWestis a print zine and writing competition(i)run by NEW Writers’ Group inc.We publish around thirtyshort works by new, Western Sydney writers, and featureten or more writers ata spoken word event, ZineWest WORD. We also publish art:
six to eight images in greyscale
and six in full colour
Published images are shortlistedfor Best Image Award: $100 plus book award for runner-up.
Entry is free. Submit up to three artworks.
Due Date: 26thJune(NB writing due 14th May)
Eligibility: artists 16 years and over who live, work or study in Western Sydney(ii)or are involved in a WS cultural organisation.
Description of zine
- Digitally printed, 72 pages
- A5, Portrait, perfect bound
- Colour cover and inside colour section
Medium: your choice
Format:jpeg
Colour or not – your choice. However note that apart from the cover, some colour images will be converted to greyscale for inside pages.Digital printing may not do justice to pale and delicate.
Copyright: NWG Inc has copyright of the zine; artists and writers retain individual copyright.
File Resolution: You can submit images ofa lower resolution than original file but if an image is selected we’ll request300 dpi.
Selectionis made by editors with advice from the judgewho sees every entry.Those selected for the zine will be eligible for the Best Image award. In addition to artistic merit, it is also important how well an image reproduces in the zine format.
