Please answer the following on a separate sheet and attach to this application.

How did you become interested in being a youth delegate to Awaji City?

Why do you believe you would be a good representative of your community?

Explain how you could promote the youth exchange program to others upon your return.

Please tell us about you! (Your likes in food, sports, home activities, hobbies, your goals in life, community service.)

The program requires some meetings where you and your family are to be present to discuss the trip and the expectations of this trip.

Regular meetings once a month will be scheduled for youth delegates to learn Japanese culture and some Japanese greetings and words to be polite. Delegates are required to attend. These meeting dates are arranged around the schedules of the youth participating in the exchange and we realize that with many school activities and work, that delegates may need to be excused for some meetings.

The expenses of this trip are not paid by the Sister Cities Organization, but we do help facilitate fundraisers to help with the air fare with all proceeds of these fundraisers going to the delegates. Parents, delegates, and Sister Cities Members will help raise these funds, which are split evenly among all youth delegates.

Air fare to Japan in mid summer usually costs around $1,600. We have been fortunate to raise about approximately $1,000 per delegate each year through fundraisers, including a small amount available from the Fujimoto Family Fund with the Community Foundation. Any remaining cost for transportation, any hotels, food, etc. will be the responsibility of the delegate.
