TRAFFIC ALERT
Flying Pig Marathon Weekend
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 5-7, 2017
The Flying Pig Marathon takes place on Sunday, May 7, 2017. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and avoid streets along the race route. Citizens are encouraged to watch the race and cheer for the runners at various points along the route.
On Sunday, May 7, 2017, beginning at 1:00 AM for staging, and at 5:00 AM on the course, and continuing until approximately 3:00 PM, numerous city streets will be closed or have parking and traffic restrictions to allow for the 2017 Flying Pig Marathon. Race participants desiring near-by parking are advised to arrive early, before the streets close, to ensure there is plenty of time to park and to get to the starting line of the race. The course will be opened to traffic as the race proceeds and the runners are clear.
The race course travels through various parts of Cincinnati, Mariemont, Fairfax, and Northern Kentucky. Traffic may be permitted in the opposite direction of the course when separated by cones. Crossing the course will be permitted with the assistance of a Police Officer or a race volunteer.

To allow for setup of the finish line, the following streets will be closed on Friday,May 5 at 9 AM until the race completion on Sunday, May 7:
E Pete Rose Way- closedfrom Broadway to Johnny Bench Way. One southbound lane of Johnny Bench Way will be maintained coming off Ramp LL from SecondStreet. A detour will be in place directing motorists back to E Pete Rose Way.
Johnny Bench Way- northbound onlyclosed
The Little Kings Mile will take place on Friday, May 5 beginning at 8PM. The Little Kings Mile will send elite runners on a one mile course to the finish line on Mehring Way near Joe Nuxhall Way. In order to accommodate this event, the following streets will close on Friday, May 5 at 7:00 PM(All streets will reopen by 10:00 PM):
Mehring Way- closed between Gest Street and E Pete Rose Way
W Pete Rose Way- closed between Gest Street and Central Avenue
Central Avenue- closed south of Third Street (Transit Center, CRG parking maintained)
Elm Street- closed south of Freedom Way
Joe Nuxhall Way- closed south of Freedom Way
On Saturday,May 6 the running of the 10K, 5K and Kids 1K will take place. The following streets will be affected starting at 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM:
Second Street- All of Second Street will be closed
Central Avenue- closedbetween Third Street and W Pete Rose Way
Mehring Way- closed between Central Avenue and E Pete Rose Way
Elm Street- closedbetween Third Street and Freedom Way
Race Street- closed south of Third Street
Vine Street/ Rosa Parks Blvd- closed between Third Street and Freedom Way
Walnut Street/ Marian Spencer Way- closed between Third Street and Freedom Way
Main Street/ Joe Nuxhall Way- closed south of Third Street
Broadway- closed south of Fourth Street
Third Street- reduced to one lane westbound between Broadway and Clay Wade Bailey Bridge
Third Street- eastbound closed between Clay Wade Bailey Bridge and Central Avenue
Third Street- closed between Eggleston Avenue and Pike Street (local resident access maintained)
Third Street ramp from southbound I-71- Closed
Third Street ramp from westbound Columbia Pkwy- Closed
Fourth Street- closed between Broadway and Pike Street (Single lane maintained for resident access)
