The congregation is encouraged to let the consistory know, either by a note in the offering, a verbal communication or a letter, what they feel they could contribute towards the cost of the roof replacement. If we receive 66% of the projected cost of the shingle replacement, we will not look at selling the parsonage at this time. If the 66% is not met, we will move forward with the sale of the parsonage

Prayers Can’t Be Answered Unless They are Prayed

Life without purpose is barren indeed—

There can’t be a harvest unless you plant seed,

There can’t be attainment unless there’s a goal,

And man’s but a robot unless there’s a soul . . .

If we send no ships out, no ships will come in,

And unless there’s a contest nobody can win . . .

For games can’t be won unless they are played,

And Prayers can’t be answered unless they are prayed . . .

So whatever is wrong with your life today,

You’ll find a solution if you kneel down and pray

Not just for pleasure, enjoyment, and health,

Not just for honors and prestige and wealth . .

But Pray for a Purpose to make life worth living.

And Pray for the Joy of unselfish giving,

For Great is your Gladness and Rich your Reward

When you make your Life’s Purpose the choice of the Lord.

Slow Me Down, Lord!

Slow Me Down, Lord, Slow me down!

Ease the pounding of my heart

by the quieting of my mind.

Give me amid the confusion of my day,

the calmness of the everlasting hills.

Break the tensions of my nerves and muscles

with the soothing music

of the singing streams that live in my memory.

Help me to know the magical,

restoring power of sleep.

Teach me the art of taking minute vacations,

of slowing down to look at a flower,

to chat with a friend, to pat a dog,

to read a few lines from a good book.

Remind me each day of the fable

of the hare and the tortoise,

that I may know that the race

is not always to the swift-

that there is more to life

than increasing speed.

Let me look upward

into the branches of the flowering oak

and know that it is great and strong

because it grew slowly and well.

Slow me down, Lord,

and inspire me to send my roots

deep into the spin of life’s enduring values

that I may grow toward the stars

of my great destiny.
