ANNUAL REPORT – HIGH SCHOOL (2013-14) 10th April 2014

As G.K Chesterton had quoted, “Education is simply the soul of the society as it passed from one generation to another.

Swami Vivekananda has rightly said “Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man “, And We, The management and the staff at Shrishti would want that education by which character is formed, where the strength of mind is increased, the intellect is highly expanded, and by which one can stand on one's own feet. We have sacrificed all of our days, so that you children can have a better tomorrow.

I would like to sincerely extend a warm welcome to our most respected guest of honour, Dr. George Chandy, medical director, Miot. Shrishti Vidyashram is concerned about the holistic development of the child. Hence, as per CBSE recommendations, we conduct formative assessments that provide powerful indications to this development. This includes the Open Text Book Assessment, Problem Solving Assessment, Value Based Questions and ASL-(Assessment of speaking and listening skills)that have been introduced by our educational system. With these, we do not need to hold the hands of our learners but allow them to take their own path for acquiring knowledge. Let us keep the flame of this passion burning alive and let this passion be pure and laborious, in intent and in expression because it is linked with igniting the minds of the curious, capable learners who are totally under our guidance.

Utsav:

“Utsav”, true to its name, is a magnificent festival celebrated each year in Shrishti, to help students unravel their latent talents in the most splendid style possible. This year we had in February 2014. It is a rare privilege of exposure of glittering talents honed by dedicated teachers. Utsav unfolded not only cultural extravaganza but also a sight of satisfaction to the parents and teachers together for having moulded children into a dynamic and versatile personality. The students exhibited singing, dancing, acting and presentation skills which left the audience spell bound and a sense of pride to the staff and parents of Shrishti.

Australia tour & Staff Picnic:

The school management organized a tour to Australia in December for a period of 9 days. Children relished memorable moments by visiting many places. Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Tarango Zoo andBondai Beach were the high lights. The important feature that enticed the students was their designing of formula one cars at the Menai High School in Sydney.

The management had also arranged a picnic for the staff of Shrishti schools in the month of February to break the monotony of work and to relish time with their co-workers. Teachers forgot all their worries of teaching and corrections and enjoyed the trip to Muthukadu Boat House and the very enjoyable MGM Theme Park, Chennai.

Clubs: (Literary, IHA, Eco Club Home Science)

Shrishti has been blessed with a set of committed staff whose work has sharpened the students to a very large extent. They have helped in incorporating a set of clubs in the school campus to enable children fine tune their skills and carry the legacy further. We have the IHA club which is a pedestal where the child’s creative growth stems out of its shell. This year we hadmany eccentric events. To name a few - face painting, dance, Adzap, dumb charades, Best out of waste, singing, various art work, ramp walk, flower making and vegetable carving .

We also have the Eco Club and the Home Science club that concentrates on gardening and cookery. The Literary Club focuses on language development through speeches, drama, story writing and many more.

Work Education:

Perhaps the most important way to enhance Children’s pro social behavior is through Children’s capacity through empathy and sympathy. To incorporate these values and ideologies, XI graders visited many places- to help the aged and the young, to analyze the life style of villagers and the under privileged. Their visits to the Brammapuram Village, Paadashala, Annai Teresa Aged Home, Red Cross Old Age Home and Orphanage and the Aged Home at Anaicut - proved to be an experience which they would remember for a life time. They learnt that showing someone just a little bit of love makes a big difference in their lives!! Many of the students kept asking themselves and God- Why me! When so many do not have the basics of life.RU embarrassed to do good? Think!! It is so easy for us to point out when something is not okay but not that easy when we have to appreciate someone. Words of anger come out effortlessly but words of love need planning, preparation and right time to get expressed. Do not be embarrassed to do good. Life is too short!!!

Workshops:

For any organization to work successfully, the people need to be trained regularly and to teach better and effectively. Our teachers were not left behind in any area of training and workshops. Conclusion:

Lastly my graduates a thought for you to carryand hold on to ……

Similar to computer, our brains also have RAMs (Random Access Memory) and hard drives. The trick is to find interesting data to store in them and access this information using your CPU (Creative Processing Unit). Your CPU connects or associates one bit of information with a piece of data in another RAM or from your hard drive.

Your hard drive consists of experiences, education, successes, failures, learning and so on. Your RAMs can be in the form of multiple bubbles namely jokes, images, newspaper articles, ways to do things, current events, hit music and so on. How often you refresh your RAMs, ensures that the data there is fresh and ready to associate with older data from other RAMs and your hard drives. Rebooting is to constantly reset your senses. Challenge yourselves to see, hear, feel or experience something new each time.

My dear children - have the courage to think differently, the courage to invent, to travel the unexplored path, the courage to discover the impossible and to conquer the problems and succeed. These are great qualities that you all must work towards and you’re sure to shine like the stars that twinkle above you.

Be a spark that will kindle the fire of brotherly love to be a better human being in the world given to us. Be true to the motto- Learn to lead!

Parents- your children learn from what they see- not from what they hear. So please be the kind of role model, you need to be to your children.

Let me end my report by the words of Albert Einstein.

There are 2 ways to live

You can live as if

Nothing is a miracle

Or you can live as if

Everything is a miracle.

Thank you.
