ROCK CYCLE PROJECT

Show what you know by completing one the activities below. Projects must include knowledge of the rock cycle.

Rock Cycle Rap/Song
Write a rap or song about the rock cycle. You must include all information about each stage. Song/rap must be 2-3 minutes long and must be performed. Please print out a copy of the lyrics and the music that goes along with the rap/song. You must create a cd cover to go along with your hit. / Game
Create a game using the topic of the rock cycle. Your game must include information about the rock cycle (for example questions cards). Game must include an objective, rules/directions on how to play the game and be visually appealing. Be creative. (You should create game pieces/cards/dice to go along with your game) / Journal Entries
Pretend that you are a rock experiencing the rock cycle. Write five (at least 10 sentences each) journal entries from the point of view of the rock, explaining each phase of the rock cycle. Be sure to use facts to support your writing.
Comic Strip
Draw and write a comic strip describing the change you go through as you progress from one form of a rock to another. Must be accurate and creative. The comic strip will have a minimum of 8 boxes. You must include vocabulary words, dialogue, and a story to along with the images. / Mobile
Construct a mobile about the rock cycle. Use clothes hanger, index cards, string, or other materials of your choice. Hang facts, photos, maps, and charts so that your mobile explains all aspects of the rock cycle. / Pamphlet
Design a pamphlet that explains the rock cycle in a simple, interesting way. The first page of the pamphlet should be a title page. Each of the following pages should discuss one phase of the rock cycle and have at least one illustration.
Story Book
Create a story book showing a rock breaking down and reforming through the rock cycle. You must include characters, a plot, conflict, setting and resolution. The book must have a title, pictures, and must be at least 5 pages long (not including the title page). / Poster/AD
Design a poster or AD about the rock cycle. The poster/AD should have eye-catching graphics. The poster should also include important facts, persuasive writing, and information should be listed clearly. / Research Project
Research a specific form of rock (sedimentary, igneous, metamorphic). Within the research paper you must include the location where most of the rocks are found, facts about the rock type and examples. You must cite your sources. 3 page minimum
