Job Title: Bump Buddies Mentoring Officer

Reports to: Bump Buddies Programme Manager

Salary: £14,440-16,200/3 days/week (£24-27,000 pa pro rata)

Contract: Fixed Term contract for 9 months

Bump Buddies

Through word of mouth, outreach and a 1-to-1 mentoring service, volunteers empower women in Hackney to engage with maternity services early in pregnancy, make healthy choices in pregnancy and early parenthood, and address some of the wider issues which are negatively impacting on their and their children’s wellbeing.

Main purpose of job:

·  To manage, develop and co-ordinate the mentoring scheme reporting to the Bump Buddies Programme Manager.

Key duties and responsibilities

Management and Development

·  Manage the development and implementation of the Bump Buddies mentoring scheme to support service users in conjunction with partner statutory and third sector services.

·  Manage a caseload of service users, including conducting home visits to assess need (eg. case history, risk assessment, plan support actions), progress meetings and evaluation and planning at the conclusion of service engagement.

·  Contribute to the Bump Buddies team by sharing best practice at regular meetings.

Volunteer Support

·  Provide ongoing support and supervision to matched pairs to enable them to receive the maximum benefits from the programme.

·  Facilitate the beginning and ending of the relationship including matching volunteers to service users and overseeing the relationship.

·  Support the programme manager in delivering group supervision to volunteers.

Monitoring and Evaluation

·  Record all data, including all users’ opinions of the scheme, to enable the organisation to monitor the progress of the scheme and evaluate its overall effectiveness.

·  Record volunteer/mentoring data in the Bump Buddies volunteer database.

Reporting and Promotion

·  Produce quarterly reports detailing mentoring activity outputs.

·  Represent the Bump Buddies mentoring scheme in the wider community.

·  Support programme communications (e.g. website updates, news stories).

·  Share good feedback with the wider Shoreditch Trust team

Programme Administration

·  Attendance at staff meetings

·  Co-ordination of procurement (as appropriate) and invoicing

·  Ensure best practice risk management

·  Maintain databases and undertake general administrative duties

·  Ensure that customer care is the major priority for service provision.

Experience
1.  Suitable experience in a health/social care environment, with demonstrable experience managing a caseload of clients
2.  Demonstrable experience in nurturing relationships with clients who may struggle to maintain engagement over long periods
3.  Suitable experience of working safely with vulnerable/at risk clients
4.  Strong administrative experience / 1.  Experience of working within the third sector
