Description:
The sexual assault and domestic violence advocacy program at the Crisis Center of Dodge City, Inc. (CCDC) seeks qualified applicants for Shelter Night/Weekend/Hotline Staff. CCDC serves Ford, Hodgeman, Gray, Meade, and Clark counties. This position involves workingin the CCDC safe shelter with victims of sexual assaultand domestic violence by identifying resources, providing options regarding safety, and personal empowerment. The primary responsibilities for this position are to provide support for shelter residents during nights and weekends and answer the 24-hour crisis hotline.
Specific Duties:

  • Answer the 24 hour crisis hotline and provide clients with a safe, supportive and respectful environment.
  • Communicate with clients regularly to increase comfort with shelter setting and gain a better understand of client needs, provide emotional support, and identify resources.
  • Coordinate with on-call staff for in-person advocacy after business hoursas needed.
  • Work closely with the Shelter Manager Advocate and other CCDC staff to ensure shelter residents’ needs are met and address any concerns regarding the shelter.
  • Conduct shelter intakes and exit interviews with residents, as necessary.
  • Complete nightly safety and shelter checks responding appropriately to the safety and security needs of residents and the shelter.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment, for all residents and shelter staff.
  • Maintain and complete accurate paperwork and statistical data.
  • Attend staff meetings and other trainings deemed necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED; Ability to work in nonjudgmental way with victims of violence and treat all people with dignity and respect; Ability to work with minimal supervision; Knowledge of a variety of computer applications; Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills; Demonstrate ability to maintain strict confidentiality; Must live within 20 miles of Dodge City business office; Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish and English or experiencein working with multi-lingual client base. Prior experience with victims of domestic violence or sexual assault.

Physical Qualifications:
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.; Ability to climb and descend stairs.
