Sheffield & District Monday Night Pool League Rules 2016

Rule 1 the game will consist of 5 singles and 2 pairs and will start at 8.15 Monday evenings. If at 8.30 no player is present from the opposing team the first game may be claimed. At 8.45 the second, at 9.00 the third and at 9.15 the match may be claimed at 9.15.

The full team singles shall be put on the result sheet before the match starts a player coming after 9.00 can still play if his name was on the sheet as long as the table has been in play up to him arriving.

Team sheets are to be filled in by each captain separately and then combined onto one result sheet to avoid any advantage being gained in team selection.

Rule 2 the away team will break first, from then the teams will break

Alternately. The referee will be from the opposing team to the player breaking.

Rule 3 captains must maintain order whilst the match is in progress. Any coaching from a team member or supporters may result in a game being forfeited. If there any disputes, frames involved are to cease and play moves on to the next frame, the dispute is then to be brought up before the committee and their decision is final

.

Rule 4 any player or team found to be using ungentlemanly conduct or unsporting behaviour will be ejected from the league.

Rule 5 all scores to be text into the league administrator by both teams by 12 noon the Tuesday after the match has been played. Score sheets must be kept and brought to the next monthly meeting.

Rule 6 meetings will be held at the lord nelson on the first Thursday of every month. A representative must be present from each team. Failure to do so will result in a £10.00. 2 non attended meetings will result in a £20.00 Fine 3 will result in £30.00.

Each team will pay monthly subs of £15.00 if they wish to have unlimited entries in the knockouts through the season or £10.00 if they wish to pay for individual entries or are not competing in the knockouts at all.

Each team will pay £10.00 registration at the start of a season

Each new team will pay £30.00 bond when joining the league. (The bond is refunded when leaving the league provided the fixtures for the season have been completed).

In addition to this they will be required to pay their yearly amounts within the first 3 meetings of their first season:

IE £110.00 or £160.00

Rule 7 the fixtures are drawn up and certain dates left for competition matches. Any player in these competition matches who fails to turn up will forfeit his game.

The singles and doubles matches will begin at 8.00 and are best of 3 frames

Semi finals best of 5.

Final best of 7

TKO played as league format (5 singles & 2 doubles).

3 man is best of 9 frames with all players playing each other.

When a match is left for mutual arrangement the away player is responsible for contacting his opponent.

All players are to respond positively to making arrangements in all competitions. The home team or player is expected to pay for the table.

Cost for each competition

League with KO - £160.00

League without KO - £110.00 (Refer to amount below for ad- hoc entries)

Team KO - £5 (not included in all in monthly subs)

Singles -£5

Pairs - £5

3 man - £10

Rule 8 after every foul the cue ball may be played from where it is or can be placed behind the baulk line. This must be done by the referee on instruction from the player, failure to ask the referee to move the ball will result in a foul stroke. The referee may be asked by the player and can give the player permission to move the cue ball but a player must ask for the cue ball to be moved.

Rule 9 potting of the opponents ball on two separate visits, deliberately or accidentally, will result in loss of frame. This does not apply when 2 shots

Free table is in operation or if opponent’s ball falls in rather than beingpotted. If an opponents ball falls without being contacted

While player is atthe table then a foul and 2 visits is awarded but no warning will be given asthis was not “potted” by the player at the table.

Rule 10 doubles players may not converse between shots once the player incontrol has struck the cue ball in that visit. When the player breaks, if a ball ispotted he may discuss with his partner before declaring to the referee thecolour he is selecting.

Rule 11 anyone playing snooker must hit a cushion before contact of hisown ball.

If snooker is on your opponent without hitting a cushion first afoul will be called and 2 shots free table are awarded. Snooker is declaredwhen the oncoming player can not hit the centre of their ball.

If the player isunable to hit the centre of their ball due to the jaw of the pocket being in theway then a foul will be called and 2 visits awarded. The referee’s decision isfinal.

Rule 12 – open table

If you pot a ball from the break, you must nominate your next colour or afoul will be called, and you give your opponent a free table with 2 shots. If noball is potted from the break then the first legally potted ball determinesyour colour. When requiring the black for the game you can pot youropponent’s ball first then the black or both at the same time, as they are bothclassed as black balls on a free table.

Rule 13 if the black is knocked off the table at any time during the game then itwill be re spotted, or placed as close to the spot as possible from the backcushion.

Rule 14 other than the above rules, the game will be played in line with thegeneral rules of pool.

Rule 15 at the time of a foul the referee is to announce 1st visit before theytake the first shot, once the player misses the referee is to announce 2nd visit

To inform the player they are still at the table.

Rule 16 for a break to be determined as legal 2 or more object balls must hit acushion; this does not include the cue ball. If a foul break is committed thenthe oncoming player has the following 3 options:

1) Play from where the balls are with 2 shots.

2) Request to take the cue ball behind the line with 2 shots.

3) Request the balls be re racked and break again with 2 shots.

Rule 17 a team can play a fixture with only 4 players. If this happens then afterthe 4th framether 5th frame will be claimed by the opposing team..

Rule 18 – cancellation of matches

A minimum of 48 hours notice must be given for a match to be cancelled and no penalty leviedagainst the offending team. If a period of less48 hours will be awarded 7-0 to the team being cancelledagainst and the £20 fine will be imposed

No Team can cancel a 2nd game until the first cancelled game is played.

Rule 19 each team must send a representative to the presentation night,failure to do so will result in the offending team forfeiting their prize money.(No show No dough!)

Rule 20 - registration of players

A team can register players at any point throughout the season and there isno deadline on when new players can be signed up. The only condition is that aplayer must not play for another team that is in the league, meaning that aplayer from a team that is no longer in the league is permitted to sign for anew team.
