Sheboygan South Forensics Invitational

February 26, 2011

Dear Forensics Coaches,

On behalf of the administration, forensics staff, and students of Sheboygan South High School, we are pleased to once again open our doors to you for our annual Forensics Invitational and Student Congress Tournament. Student Congress competition will be held on Friday February 25th, and all Forensics events will be held on Saturday February 26th.

We are excited to offer students the opportunity to double or triple enter in multiple categories once again this year, with the exception that students competing in extemp, radio, and group discussion will be restricted to single entries.

We will be hosting events at two different buildings with a shuttle bus running between the two of them. Students who are entered in multiple evens must be aware that it is their responsibility to move between rounds in a timely manner.

Entries

Each school will be permitted 25 varsity entries. You may enter as many students as you like, but only the top 25 scores will count towards your team sweepstakes points. You may register more than 4 entries per category, but no more than 4 will be counted for team sweepstakes points. All WFCA forensics categories will be offered. Rules can be found at http://www.wfcaforensics.org

We will also offer Oratorical Declamation as a category for any freshmen or sophomore competitor who wishes to enter. Rules for Oratorical Declamation will follow Catholic Forensics League rules, which can be found at http://www.ncfl.org

Registration

This year, we will be utilizing www.tabroom.com to handle the registration process. This free website will allow you make any adds and drops to your original registration yourself up to the point when registration closes and will also create an invoice for you. The website is fairly intuitive, but if you have any trouble creating your school's account or registering your team, please send an email to and I will send you a detailed, step by step guide for what to do.

Online registration will be open until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, February 22nd.

Fees

$7.00 for student congress entries

$8.00 for individual forensics entries

$10.00 for group interp, duo, and play acting entries.

You can print your own invoice at any time from within the tournament registration section of tabroom.com

Judges

Your team must provide 1 judge for every 5 entries on your original registration.

Schools competing in student congress will need to provide 1 judge for every 8 contestants

A limited number of judges are available for hire through the tournament at a cost of $100.00 each. If you need to hire a judge, let us know ASAP.

Food

Concessions will be available throughout the day in the South High Commons. Please plan on eating on-site so power rounds are not delayed.

Student Congress

For any schools participating in student congress, registration will begin at 4:00 on Friday after school. We will provide dinner for all congress participants. Please email any bills by Monday February 21st to .

Awards

Trophies will be given to the top three contestants in each category. All other finalists shall receive medals.

Large team trophies will awarded to the top four teams based on the total prelim scores of the top 25 speakers for the team. Small team trophies will be awarded to the top three schools with 8 to 18 entries based on the average of quality points per student.

In addition, we will award a "triathalon trophy" to the top triple entered student. Students who wish for the opportunity to earn this trophy must compete in at least one speech category (demo, 4 minute, moments, oratorical declamation, oratory, pub add, or spec occ) and at least one interpretive category (duo, farrago, group interp, OIL, play acting, poetry, prose, solo acting, or storytelling). The trophy will be awarded to the student with the lowest total preliminary round scores.
