Story Telling Through Video Production / Entering Grades 5-12 / 1 / Write a Story and Make a Movie of it!
In this class you will do the following Storytelling to Video activities:
  1. Share your favorite storybook or short story with the class.
  2. Learn the 5 key elements for creating a good story.
  • 1. character development; introducing a protagonist (a hero), and an antagonist (a bad guy) 2. creating an interesting setting, 3. introducing conflict, a climax and finally a resolution, 4. developing an interesting plot 5. Creating a theme (a thread that weaves itself throughout the story’s tapestry to teach a lesson or moral).
  1. Participate in a round-robin story writing activities.
  2. Write a story! (either in small groups or whole group - TBD).
  3. Create a storyboard.
  4. Create a set design for your story.
  5. Choose to be an actor, and/or recruit actors for your story. A puppet show is an option as well.
  6. Find and/or create simple costumes for your characters.
  7. Learn about effective lighting techniques to capture mood and ambience for your story video.
  8. Act and film the story
  9. Upload movie to a movie editing program, and edit the filmed story using a movie editing program. Add music and sound effects.

Strength and Skills Program / Students Entering Grades 6-12 / M-F June 12- Aug. 4

Location: High School Weight Room/Fitness Center/Gym / Speed and Strength Training – The Kewaunee High School Athletics Department and Coaches supervise, coach, and train athletes in this high-intensity session. Individual instruction is provided. Student-Athletes will have a chance to meet and interact with their future high school coaches. Technique and safety are stressed with an expectation that athletes give effort to improve. The Kewaunee Athletics Department and coaches have developed the core principles of this program over many years using exercises that are clinically proven to enhance the speed, strength, fitness, balance, and mobility of athletes. In addition to performance enhancement, team building, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude will be stressed. For Speed and Strength, all students should register for the grade they are ENTERING IN 2017-18.
Advanced:
This session is recommended for male and female student-athletes who will be entering 10th, 11th and 12th grade in the fall. Athletes should know the techniques of the parallel squat and power clean lift. This session will run at a high energy pace for athletes who need to maximize their time and effort during the summer. We are focusing and working on injury prevention by teaching athletes proper technique in lifting, running and cutting. Athletes in this session will be training Monday through Friday (June 12th-August 4th). Times TBD.
Beginner:
This session is recommended for male and female student-athletes who will be entering 7th, 8th, and 9th grade in the fall. The focus of this program will center on the proper habits and techniques of the Kewaunee Athletics Speed and Strength Program. Sessions will be focused on learning routines and intensity will increase throughout the session. We are focusing and working on injury prevention by teaching athletes proper technique in lifting, running and cutting. Athletes in this session will be training Mondays through Friday (June 12th-August 4th). Times TBD. / $20.00 / Mr. Rabas
