REGULAR MEETING
JANUARY 3, 2007

The Shallotte Board of Aldermen met for a regular meeting on January 3, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. in the council chambers of the Shallotte Town Hall with Mayor Gerald Long presiding.
Aldermen present: Jerry Jones, Buddy Kelly, John Kinlaw, Jim Roach and Larry Harrelson
Aldermen absent: None
Staff present: Sandy Hewett, Attorney Laura Thompson, Cindy Babson and Administrator Paul Sabiston
I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Long called the meeting to order. A motion was made by John Kinlaw seconded by Jim Roach to open the meeting. Motion carried 5 yes 0 no.
II. INVOCATION & PLEDGE
Reverend John Causey gave the Invocation followed by the Board and audience reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
III. AGENDA AMENDMENTS & APPROVAL OF AGENDA
There were no agenda amendments at this time, so a motion was made by Buddy Kelly seconded by Jerry Jones to approve the agenda as submitted. Motion carried 5 yes 0 no.
IV. PUBLIC HEARINGS
A motion was made by Buddy Kelly seconded by Jim Roach to open the public hearing portion of the meeting. Motion carried 5 yes 0 no.
1. #06-052 John T., Jr. & Julie Madison – Request for annexation of .40 acres + or - (tax parcel 1980000108) located at 537 Lightwood Lane. The applicant has also requested rezoning the property from RA-15 to R-15 – no comments were made.
2. #06-053 – Blue Berry Farm @ Shallotte - Agent T. Van Davenport has requested annexation of 78.73 + or - acres (tax parcel 2130000602) located on Hale Swamp Road. The applicant has also requested rezoning the property from County zoning R-7500 to R-10, MF-14 and HB (Highway Business) with a PRD (Planned Residential Development) overlay – John Cook, who lives on Dixie Lane, asked if this was going to affect his property? Mayor Long informed him that it would not.
3. #06-054 – Rourk Tract 3 – Agent Margaret Gray has requested annexation of 184.52 acres + or - (tax parcel 16700069) located on Ocean Highway West. No request for rezoning has been submitted at this time – Judy Clemmons asked what the property was going to be rezoned to? Mayor Long stated that no request for zoning had been submitted at this time. Louie Lewis asked if this was going to affect his property? Mayor Long informed him that it would not.
4. #06-055 – Young Gak Jeon – Agent Eva Worley has requested annexation of 1.1 acres + or – (tax parcels 1810002602 & 1810002601) located at 587 & 599 North Mulberry Road. The applicant has also requested rezoning the property from RAM-15 to R-10 – There were no comments at this time.
5. #06-056 – Monroe Enzor – Request for annexation of .45 acres + or – (tax parcel 2132A035) located at 10 Wendy Lane. The applicant has also requested rezoning the property from RA-15 to R-15 – There were no comments at this time.
6. #06-057 – John T. Madison – Request for annexation of .25 acres + or – (tax parcel 2300A01702) described as Tract 3 Village Point Plat 21/531. The applicant has also requested rezoning the property from R-6000 to R-10 – There were no comments at this time.
7. #06-058 – John T. Madison – Request for annexation of .22 acres + or – (tax parcel 2300000501) located at 1314 Village Point Road. The applicant has also requested rezoning the property from R-7500 to R-10 – There were no comments at this time.
8. #06-060 – Text Amendment – Article 15-2 (E) (2) be changed to a 60-foot minimum width with a minimum lot size of 4,800 square feet – There were no comments at this time.
9. Ordinance No. 06-15 – Proposed text amendments to Fire Department Chapters 35: Fire Department and Chapter 93: Fire Prevention – There were no comments at this time.
A motion was made by Jerry Jones seconded by Jim Roach to close the public hearing portion of the meeting. Motion carried 5 yes 0 no.
