I move that the Senate accept Taylor Casteigne for the position of Supreme Court Justice. Taylor is the appointment of SGA President, Tommy Thibodeaux, and SPA President, Amber Burton. Taylor replaces Brendon Gros on the Supreme Court. Passed and signed.

I move that the Senate amend Article III (3) sections A, B, C, D of the committee names to now state as follows: A) Committee on Budget and Finance, B) Committee on Campus Affairs, C) Committee on Judiciary and Rules and D) Committee on Public Relations. These will be the new titles of the current Standing Committees. Passed and signed.

I move that the Senate amend Article VIII to add section (5) to state as follows “Committee Chairs shall meet with the Vice President and Pro-Tempore to discuss legislation that will be presented at the next regular meeting of the Senate. The time and date shall be decided by the majority of the committee chairs”. Passed and signed.

I move that the Senate amend Article IV (4) to add Section G. Section G shall state “It will also be the duty of the Senator to meet with the Dean or College Administrative Council of which they represent, at least once a semester. Senators may meet with the College Administration individually or with the whole delegation. Passed and signed.

I move that the Senate allocate $1,270.96 to purchase a bike rack to be placed at the Nicholls State Women’s Soccer Pavilion. Funds for this motion would be taken out of the Senator Projects line item of the Fall 2016 budget. Tabled.

I move that the Senate sponsor a bus trip to the River Road African American Museum in Donaldsonville, Louisiana in commemoration of African American History Month to be held in February of 2017. The entry fee for the Museum is $10 per person for 30 students, faculty and staff expected to attend and $100 to cover travel expenses. The total of the trip is expected to be up to $400 and would be taken from the Spring 2017 budget. Passed and signed.

I move that the Senate amend Article XII (12) Section (4) sub-section (m) to be struck from the Bylaws. I further amend Article (XII) (12) Section (D), sub-section (1) to add section (D) to state: “New organizations that are requesting funding for the first time are eligible for SGA funds in the same semester in which they are created. Organizations may receive up to $100.00 in start-up funding”. Passed and signed.

I move that the Senate amend Article VIII (8) Section 3 to state as follows: “Any member of the Senate seeking recognition must wait to be recognized by the Chair. Once recognized, the member shall stand to take and maintain possession of the floor”. Passed and signed.

I move that the Senate amend Article IV (4) Section (D) to now say: “Distribute copies of all pertinent information dealing with legislation that they are authoring to each Senator at least (48) hours before the meeting at which it is to be presented”. Passed and signed.
