Introduction

Welcome to another year at Yateley Offshore Sailing Club(The Club). 2016 being the 25thanniversary since the Club’s formation in 1991. To assist with your enjoyment of Club activities the following information may prove helpful.

Club website:-

Full Club information can be found on the Club’s website The general website pages are open to all. However, member only information can be accessed using a member’s user name and password. Should any member require assistance with gaining access to the member only information they should contact . By the same token should any member requiring their personal information to be updated or removed or to include any sales and wants to appear within the website this can also be instigated via the YOSC webmaster,

Newsletter:-

The Editor publishes a monthly Newsletter. The Newsletter in colour is available online via the Club’s website. Black and white Hard copies of the newsletter are available by specific request to the Editor . The hard copies to normally be collected at the Club on Monday evenings andis usually set to coincide with the first speaker’s event of the month.

If any member requires a hard copy of the newsletter and are not able to visit the Club on a regular basis arrangements can be made for the newsletter to be posted to the member’s home address. Should a regular posted newsletter be required it would be appreciated if the related request be sent to the Editor.

In respect of members’ newsletter contributions the Editor welcomes articles and photographs suitable for publication. In this regard the following would be helpful:-

i)Articles to be typed in Word .doc NOT .docx

ii)Pictures, drawings and charts produced as jpg, bmp or tiff files, separated from the text and not in the body of the text. In the body of the text indicate where the inserts should go. Maximum picture size to be limited to 500kB.

iii)The maximum size file that the editor can receive electronically is 20MB.The YOSC web site gives you access to 12 months of Newsletters.

Announcement section:-

The page is designed to inform YOSC Members of Sailing Opportunities, training courses, holidays, notices to Mariners and any other items of information for sailors etc. The webmaster may supplement any information in the interest of members.

Sales and Wants:-

Should members wish for their sales or wants to appear within the newsletter please email the related informationto the Editor .

Equipment

The Club holds a stock of “free to use” equipment which may be of assistance forroutine boat maintenance. The equipment includes Sump Oil Extractor; Polisher (heavy or light duty); VSWR Meter; Mini Engraver; High Pressure Washer; Hot Blade Synthetic Rope Cutter/Sealer; Antifoul scraper;Heavy Duty Battery Tester, Cutless Bearing Extractor, Propeller Removal Tool and Pop Rivet Pliers. Should a member need to borrow any of the equipment please contact the Club .

The following are also available via the Club Librarian:-

Club Burgees–with YOSC logo, small (£3) or large (£11.50).

Clothing- During September/October, clothing orders are taken for Sweatshirts, T shirts, fleeces, caps etc., embroidered with the YOSC logo, additionally boat names may be added if required. A reminder email will be issued in advance.

Almanacs– During late November the Librarian is able to take orders forall types of Reeds almanac. These are available at a discount of about 25% on shop prices. A reminding e mail will be issued at the appropriate time.

Meeting venue

YOSC holds meetings on most Monday evenings at the Sandhurst Social Club,33/35 Wellington Road, Sandhurst, GU47 9AW, located at the junction of Wellington road and Park Road, indicated by the ring on the map below.

Speaker evenings commence at 20:00. Non-event social evenings normally commence at approximately 21:00. Members are reminded to kindly switch off their mobile phones during Club events.

It would be much appreciated if you could show respect to the Sandhurst Social Club neighbouring houses by parking carefully and arriving and leaving quietly.

Members should sign in their attendance at the SSC bar when visiting the Club.
