Subject: Updated: Use of Mixed-Case Text/95 ASCII Character Set

in Preliminary Local Storm Reports (LSR) Delayed until

the October 2017 Time Frame

Updated to delay the implementation of mixed-case text in

preliminary LSRs until the October 2017 time frame. A Service

Change Notice will be issued with an exact effective date when

one is determined. Previous proposed changes to event sources

and types will also be delayed until further notice. Proposed

changes can be viewed in the original SCN 16-57 issuance in

Table 1: Event Source List, Table 2: Event Type List, and Table

3: Affected Products.

Effective in the October 2017 time frame, the Preliminary LSR

product will transition to a mixed-case text/95 ASCII character

set. No format changes (spacing, order, etc.) will be included

with this transition to mixed-case. Additionally, there will be

no changes to event sources/types at this time.

A sample of the mixed case LSR format with multiple examples can
