SENIOR WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER / PROJECT MANAGER

Geosyntec is seeking a highly motivated senior water resources engineer to join our team in our Oak Brook or Chicago, Illinois office and in our St. Louis Missouri office. The selected candidate will work on a diverse array of complex water resource projects throughout the region and the US. The typical project portfolio includes sustainable green infrastructure planning studies; detailed design of stormwater infrastructure, innovative green infrastructure, flood mitigation practices, and urban stormwater infrastructure; complex hydrologic and hydraulic analysis including dam breach studies and floodplain mapping; stream restoration; receiving water and stormwater BMP water quality modeling; industrial and construction site NPDES permitting support and construction inspections; and Clean Water Act regulatory support. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Project management of planning studies and engineering design;

Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of a full range of watershed scales;

Application of innovative modeling software, from 1-D to 3-D transport models;

Design development to implement innovative green infrastructure solutions;

Floodplain mapping and flood protection designs;

In stream and urban stormwater water quality modeling;

Field investigations and construction support services;

Developing construction documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications;

Preparation of erosion and sediment control designs;

Preparation of technical documents, including letters, memoranda and reports;

Interacting with client representatives and construction contractors;

Managing and developing schedules and budgets for project tasks; and

Mentoring junior engineers and staff.

The selected candidate will perform assignments under the supervision of the department manager and senior managers and will have the opportunity to perform tasks in other company practice areas. The individual will have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge, skills, and abilities in these technical disciplines and actively manage projects, project teams, and support business development.

REQUIREMENTS:

Preferred candidates will have 10+ years of experience and hold a Bachelor’s degree and an advanced (M.S. or Ph.D.) degree from an accredited college or university in environmental or civil engineering with an emphasis in water resources or a closely related discipline.

The position is ideally suited for a highly motivated, innovative individual with a passion of solving complex problems for incredible clients. The selected individual will excel in the technical skills described above and demonstrate the passion to be a leader in the firm. This position requires the ability and willingness to perform occasional fieldwork and travel. Additionally, this position will require OSHA health and safety training for working with potentially contaminated materials (provided, as needed), annual 8-hour refresher courses, first aid training (every three years), CPR training (every year), and annual medical monitoring.

Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS is desired. Professional registration as a P.E. (Professional Engineer) within state guidelines is mandatory.
