Senior Reflection Topics and Due Dates: Save this sheet!

SENIOR REFLECTION EQUIREMENTS:

Basic Requirements: Heading; ;title250 - 300 words with word count, typed, double spaced.No reflections should exceed one page!

Deductions include the following:

  • Heading: on left side, double spaced: Your name, Number and Title of Journal, Due Date
  • FIVE points for lower case “ I “ indicating first person; the use of “you” when first person is appropriate;
  • FIVE points for lack of logical paragraphing
  • TWO point deductions for sentence errors including comma splices, sentence fragments, and run-on sentences.
  • ONE point deduction for each error in usage/mechanics
  • Thesis at the end of opening paragraph, developed paragraphs, spelling, and usage

Senior Reflection #1: “A Literary Tattoo: Due Wednesday, April 8: Create a literary tattoo for the book that you read (see the On-Line Classroom for examples) and write an essay that explains the significance as it relates to the book. Make sure you include a copy of the tattoo.

Senior Reflection #2: “My Early Years” Due Tuesday, April 14: Write about you as a child: school, friends, activities, family, or focus on a childhood incident that was me memorable and perhaps taught you something about others or yourself.

For this reflection, title your entry, andthen begin with your quote in italics, attribute it, and then write your reflection.The entry can be an explanation of how this quote inspires you, a retelling of an incident that brought you to this quote, or simply how these words help you keep a perspective on life.NO QUOTES OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN! YOU MUST HAVE A SOURCE!

Senior Reflection #4:DUE Tuesday, April 21: “ Albatross” As you have read in “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner,”the crew assumed that the disastrous turn of events occurred because of the death of the albatross. Angry at the Ancient Mariner, the crew picked up the dead bird and hung it around the man's neck as a symbol of guilt and punishment. The profound intent of the symbolism was reflected in the Ancient Mariner's own words: "Instead of the cross, the albatross / About my neck was hung."

Today that imagery has generalized and now anything that causes deep, persistent anxiety can be called analbatross. Also, an encumbrance that hinders accomplishment is analbatross around one's neck.

Family?We all have the dreams of fame and the power to achieve these dreams. That being said, what willyoube famous for? Write about what your classmates, family, and friends can expect to read about you in the future. Let us know what your greatest achievement will be or is.

You may write this as a future accomplishment, or write it as if in the future and use present tense. Do not mix the two!
