Position Summary
This position is responsible for directing and ensuring the effectiveness of the organization’s centralized talent/recruitment function to support being an Employer of Choice by ensuring we have the right people in the right positions and the right time. The position will lead talent planning and sourcing requirements working in close collaboration with HR Business Partners, Compensation, Benefits, OD and group leadership. The incumbent will be responsible for the administration of the company’s affirmative action plan, unemployment benefits, relocation, contingent and temporary staffing firms, and other vendor relationships providing services to support the talent function. This position also provides career consultative services to employees and coaches supervisors on hiring practices.
Dimensions
Budget: $1 to 2 MM
Areas Affected: All company locations (less direct support to Retail Group)
Staff: 7.5 FTE as direct reports
Recruitment Trend: Approximately 800 - 900 hires/year (FT, PT, seasonal)
Organizational Relationship
The incumbent reports to the Corporate Director, Human Resources. A mid-size team of Exempt and Non-Exempt talent acquisition staff report directly to this position.
Principal Accountabilities
The following accountabilities are to be carried out in a manner consistent with the spirit and philosophy outlined in The Andersons' Statement of Principles:
· Be a true leader and champion in establishing and maintaining a vision and required behaviors for our culture of ensuring human safety.
· Advise and influence leaders regarding their talent acquisition strategy and identify where the organization should invest in talent; champion cross-group moves to share talent as one-Ande resource
· Collaborate with Human Resource Business Partners, group leaders and corporate HR leaders to forecast workforce needs and identify strategies for compensating and engaging internal talent or acquiring diverse external talent
· Drive the employment brand for The Andersons and serve as a market expert regarding talent
· Guide talent team to develop a diverse talent pipeline through active recruiting and passive sourcing, screening, interviewing, recommending, selecting and onboarding for positions across the company
· Provide daily leadership to members of the talent team, providing guidance, conflict resolution and development plans to help them achieve their performance requirements and individual career goals
· Demonstrate operational management skills, define talent metrics, maximize technology, and leverage market trends to design and implement creative, scalable talent acquisition solutions that drive business results and optimize efficiencies
· Assist hiring supervisors and managers concerning the best practices of the talent acquisition process and coach employees regarding their career paths
· Manage and fulfill on Affirmative Action and EEO requirements
· Oversee and manage operating and capital budgets for centralized talent acquisition
· Accountable for vendor relationships which support the talent acquisition function, such as unemployment administration, background screening, relocation, staffing agencies, sourcing sites, etc.
· Directs efforts for temporary help requirements and contingent needs within the company to ensure disruption to the business is minimized or eliminated
· Oversee campus recruitment activities and ensure a proper pipeline of trainees and interns as determined enterprise wide
· Perform other related duties as assigned demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the organization
Job Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in HR, Organization Development, I/O Psychology or related discipline. Masters Degree in relevant discipline is a plus
· A minimum of 7 – 10 years of applicable experience in talent acquisition or talent management/development with demonstrated process excellence
· A minimum of 3 – 5 years of prior HR supervisory/management experience leading a diverse team
· Prior experience administering affirmative action plans and EEO-1 reporting requirements
· Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems (ATS), social media and recruiting process flows
· PHR, SPHR, GPHR or other recruitment certifications encouraged
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Ability to develop creative solutions and drive organizational change
· Demonstrated ability to navigate across complex, diverse business groups and matrix reporting relationships to find solutions
· Exhibits the professional experience and personal qualities to quickly gain credibility and also manage some expected conflict
· Proactive, metrics driven, results oriented leader
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes
Working Conditions
· Must be able to sit for extended period of time and work on a computer
· Some travel may be required (not likely to exceed 10%)
