SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITIES SUPPORT LOCAL ARTISTS AND ECONOMY
Expansive Collection Enhances Local Senior Living Communities, Pays Tribute to Arizona Artists
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – June 22, 2010 – Local artists and galleries feeling the economic pinch have found a champion in Vi and Plaza Companies senior living communities. Through their continued commitment to supporting Arizona-based artisans, Vi at Grayhawk (formerly Classic Residence by Hyatt and The Plaza Companies) and Classic Residence at Silverstone, continuing care retirement communities (CCRC) in North Scottsdale developed by the award-winning partnership between Vi and Plaza Companies, are proud to feature the state’s talent and artists’ stunning works while concurrently supporting the local economy.
Recognizing the positive economic impact it would have on the economy, as well as its esthetic splendor, Vi at Grayhawk chose to support the local art community when selecting its diverse artwork over the last decade and through its recent renovation in 2009. With the development of Classic Residence at Silverstone, additional local gallery and artists’ works were selected for display along the community’s gallery corridor.
“Culture and art are fundamental to both residents and the larger community and further enhance the beautiful, creative environment offered at Classic Residence at Silverstone,” said Sharon Harper, president and CEO, Plaza Companies. “We value the significant contribution local artists make in developing a unique and brilliant community and we are proud to have woven it into the heritage of excellence for which we are known. Buying locally and supporting local industries has been a trademark of Plaza Companies.”
As longtime Valley businesses, Vi (formerly Classic Residence) and Plaza Companies understand that a vibrant community includes a commitment to local culture and the arts. With this commitment, they have engaged the talents of Arizona-based galleries and artists, whose works grace both communities’ entrances, walking corridors, dining rooms and libraries.
“Our unique artworks highlight the community’s beauty and elegance and demonstrate our commitment to Arizona’s artists and galleries,” said Gail Rankin, executive director, Classic Residence at Silverstone. “The art has been a significant factor for our residents, who appreciate and enjoy it immensely.”
