UVM Senior Leadership

Agenda October 22 – 23, 2004

More than a Vision:

A New Reality!

On October 22-23, 2004 President Daniel Mark Fogel and Provost A. John Bramley hosted a retreat for the University Senior Leadership. The attendees included Vice Presidents and Vice Provosts, Deans of the Schools and Colleges, members of the University Planning Council, representatives from the three governance groups (Faculty Senate, Student Government Association, and Staff Council) and other senior leaders. (A list of attendees is at the end.)

The theme of the retreat focused on the remarkable progress and advances the University has experienced since the vision was first announced in Spring 2003. Information about the vision and the accomplishments are summarized on the President’s web page at .

This exciting, intense two day retreat was designed to focus on ways to further realize the vision for the University. Teams representing the various constituencies (link to teams) worked through the five questions outlined in President Fogel and Provost Bramley’s July 6, 2004 memorandum to the University community regarding advancing the vision for UVM. Additionally, two focus sessions were led by outside consultants working with the University– the first on campus master planning with Glenn Allen from Hargreaves Associates and Warren Schwartz from Schwartz/Silver Architects and the second on enrollment management with Dr. James Black from SEM Works.

Supporting documents and material that were distributed at the retreat are linked below. Summary comments for each question as well as the two focus sessions from the teams are below. Following the retreat, President Fogel and Provost Bramley summarized the retreat findings and recommendations to the attendees in the attached memo (follow-up memo). We invite and welcome your comments about the retreat to the following email address .
