12167 Engineer 2/Senior Engineer

We are seeking an Engineer 2/Senior Engineer to join the staff at ourNewark, DE location.

PHI is posting a position that will be filled at the Engineer 2 or Senior Engineer level. Those candidates who meet the minimum requirements for the Engineering 2 or the Senior Engineer positions will be interviewed. The most qualified candidate, from either level, Engineer 2 or Senior Engineer, based on the Structured Interview, will be hired.
The successful candidate will provide engineering oversight of projects within distribution engineering and construction. This will include using sound engineering judgment to manage project schedules and analyze data for corporate reporting. The individual will perform work that conforms to all project/task requirements and requires an understanding and application of engineering theories, standards, concepts, techniques, as well as, knowledge of engineering/industry codes and government regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with other groups within and outside the Company; identify and quickly resolve emerging issues and contribute to problem solving. Ownership of project/task completion; supporting training and providing leadership to personnel to timely achieve objectives is essential.

ENGINEER 2

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • 2 years of progressive, relevant engineer experience as described below (including experience as an Engineer 1) OR the equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training demonstrating the following skills:
    understanding and applying engineering theories, standards, concepts, resources and techniques; working on routine projects independently and/or working with teams on larger projects; collecting and analyzing non-routine data that may include but is not limited to data regarding workflow, resource plans, etc.; working closely with other groups within and/or outside the company;identifying and analyzing job/project-related issues and problems;keeping abreast of new equipment, methods and developments in engineering
  • Experience demonstrating skill managing distribution projects and/or contracts related to reliability, future load planning and/or customer driven work.
  • Experience in Distribution Power System Engineering including knowledge of power flow concepts.
  • Experience demonstrating effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail software to perform work functions.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations and work sites routinely.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours (including holidays and weekends) with little or no notice, on-call and during storms and system emergencies.
  • Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies and to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and PHI regulations (for example, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves and sleeves, hard hat, fire retardant clothing).
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments which may include outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized electrical equipment, in confined spaces, climbing, underground and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
  • Must successfully pass a medical screening to include a drug test.
  • This position is a NERC Regulated position. As such, a background check will be conducted on the incumbent every seven years. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to complete annual NERC compliance training.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
  • Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based analytical software and/or presentation software.
  • Experience demonstrating skill using design software (for example, GIS Systems, CAD, etc.).
  • Electric Distribution utility field experience in operating areas with design or construction departments.
  • Experience demonstrating skill using planning/scheduling software such as WMIS, Microsoft Project and/or Primavera.
  • Experience demonstrating skill PHI tools such as WMIS, SAPPM, SAP financials, Business Warehouse.
  • Experience demonstrating skill coordinating work across different areas, departments and/or work groups, within and/or outside of the organization.

SENIOR ENGINEER

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • 6 years of progressive, relevant engineer experience as described below (including experience as an Engineer 2) OR the equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training demonstrating the following skills:working independently on all projects, effectively incorporating engineering theories, standards, concepts, and techniques as well as engineering/industry/government codes and regulations; performing analysis and interpreting data related to work management/work flow, resource plans, budgeting and/or design; developing creative solutions to problems of above-average complexity; working closely with other groups within and/or outside the company; identifying and analyzing job/project-related issues and problems; monitors tasks and projects to ensure compliance with requirements, expectations, and schedules.(example achieving milestones and meeting corporate deadlines); keeping abreast of new equipment, methods and developments in engineering.
  • Experience demonstrating skill managing distribution projects and/or contracts related to reliability, future load planning and/or customer driven work.
