Dear <First Name>,

I hope you and your family are doing well(or similar). I want to let you know about an exciting project I am working on. High school mountain biking is coming to <state> and I am working on founding a local program. How cool will it be for <school name or city> to have it’s very own mountain bike team?

The <insert full league name> works to establish and maintain safe, quality high school mountain bike programs for students in grades 9 to 12. As a cyclist, I’m inspired to get a local team going and believe that mountain biking is the best way to get high school aged kids on bikes. And I also believe that cycling is a great way for youth to build strong bodies, strong minds and strong character. Regardless of ability level, the <league> League is committed to providing a positive experience for all student-athletes.

These programs, which are thriving in many states, do not receive school funds or any other tax-based funding. The teams rely on volunteerism, just like most high school sports. I am volunteering my time to make this happen, but I’ll need help along the way. There is an upcoming training course <leader’s summit date> that cost $XXX that will help prepare me for this work. Please consider making a donation to support my efforts.

“My participation in the League helps me with my progression as a mountain bike racer and a student. The discipline it takes to train is similar to the hard work necessary to get ahead in life.” Joe Christiansen, Senior, Colorado League.

“My dreams of being a pro came true. Sure, I wasn’t racing pro, but I was treated as if I were. It was all about us: junior mountain bike racers. While taking in the screaming fans, the total support, and community I was hit with a realization: this is where dreams come true.” Lindsay Dye, Senior, Colorado League.

I’ll follow up with a phone call to get your thoughts and fill you in on more details of the program. In the meantime, if you’d like to get a bit more background on high school mountain biking, check out <league website>and Together, we have an opportunity to have a major positive impact on our youth and community.
