Selection criteria and process

The nomination process

  • The winner of the Tennis ACT Award for Coaching Excellence – Club will become the nominee for the Australian Tennis Award for Coaching Excellence – Club.
  • All nominations for the 2016 Tennis ACT Awards are to be submitted online via the links listed at
  • This document may be used to collate nomination information before submitting via the online form.
  • Tennis ACT reserves the right to submit nominations for each award category.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for consideration, the nominee must:

  • be a current ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Coach and Tennis Australia qualified coach member
  • be delivering quality coaching programs and providing pathways which cater for the needs of players within their community;
  • have a strong relationship with the club/facility committee/management;
  • be actively involved in his/her club/facility in growing the game of tennis;
  • actively seek positive relationships with local schools and the general community; and
  • provide opportunities for players to move from coaching programs to competitions and tournaments.

The selection panel will consider the following in assessing and comparing nominations:

Selection process

The selection panel will consist of honorary and paid administrators of Tennis ACT and Tennis Australia, officials of other representative tennis bodies, and various sporting industry representatives from the likes of Sport and Recreation ACT (State Government), and possibly other industry bodies relative to categories.

Any matters which arise and which are not covered in this document will be determined by the selection panel in consultation with Tennis ACT Management/Tennis Australia Management.

Timeline

  • Nominations close – 5pm on Sunday 14 August 2016
  • All finalists will be notified in writing on email by Monday 22 August 2016.
  • Awards will be presented at Tennis ACT’s Annual Awards Celebration-Saturday 10September 2016.
  • ACT applicable category winners will be forwarded to Tennis Australia in the relevant category as nominees for the Australian Tennis Awards.
  • Tennis Australia to announce Australian Tennis Awards finalists – Friday 4 November 2016
  • Australian Tennis Awards– Monday 28 November 2016

Requirements of award recipient

The successful recipient will be required to fulfill the following upon reasonable request:

  • Participate in marketing and promotional activities in the 12 months following the award
  • Prepare an article for My Coach or relevant section in the Australian Tennis Magazine dedicated to Tennis Australia coach members. Tennis Australia will provide editorial assistance
  • If required, participate in a best practice discussion during the 2016Australian Grand Slam ®Coaches’ Conference.
