Malawi Scotland Partnership (MaSP)

Membership Application Form

Background:
The Malawi Scotland Partnership (MaSP) exists to inspire the people and organisations of Malawi to be involved with Scotland in an informed, coordinated and effective way for the benefit of both nations. MaSP is a non-governmental, independent, charitable membership organisation which supports, represents and helps coordinate Malawi’s many links with Scotland.
By creating a coordinating hub for Malawian organisations linked with Scotland, MaSP hopes to reduce duplication of effort, and increase sharing of relevant skills and experience.
MaSP is entirely Malawi owned and Malawi led, with its Board of Directors elected from its membership. It works closely with its sister organisation in Scotland, the Scotland Malawi Partnership.
Membership Types:
There are four categories of MaSP membership:
·  Full Organisational Membership: For Malawian organisations that currently have links with Scotland.
·  Full Individual Membership: For Malawian individuals that currently have links with Scotland.
·  Associate Organisational Membership: For Malawian organisations that do not currently have links with Scotland.
·  Associate Individual Membership: For Malawian individuals that do not currently have links with Scotland.
As MaSP currently has only limited operating capacity, its overriding focus in 2015-17 will be supporting those with existing links (full members).
MaSP strongly encourages those wishing to join who do not currently have links to reflect on what benefits they wish to get out of membership, as it is unlikely MaSP will be able to broker significant numbers of new links in the coming years.
Benefits of Membership:
There is currently no charge in being a member of MaSP. Benefits of membership include:

Why are you interested in developing a new partnership with Scotland?
What sort of organisation are you looking to partner with in Scotland?
For example, are you looking for a small rural primary school, a large urban Church of Scotland church, a Rotary Club, an NGO with expertise in water and sanitation, etc. Please be as specific as possible – this will improve chance of success.
What do you hope to achieve through a new partnership with Scotland?
Experience shows the most successful partnerships between Malawi and Scotland are people-to-people and community-to-community. They’re not about “charity” or the transfer of funds from a ‘donor’ to a ‘recipient’ but rather are based around skill sharing and mutual support; they are about both sides contributing and working together in an equal and dignified partnership so both sides benefit.
