Delete subparagraph below if not allowed.

  1. Established Dimensions: Where field measurements cannot be made without delaying the Work, establish opening and storage dimensions and proceed with fabricating operable panel partitions without field measurements. Coordinate construction to ensure that actual opening dimensions correspond to established dimensions.

Insert requirements for special warranties here, including applicable standard paragraphs. Not all manufacturers offer warranties. Terms for available warranties vary widely among manufacturers.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1MANUFACTURERS

Retain this Article if naming either products and manufacturers in Operable Panel Partition Schedule at end of Part3 or if naming manufacturers in this Article. Retain "Products and" in title above if either "Available Products" or "Products" Paragraph is retained below.

  4. Panelfold, Inc.

B.Hufcor Model 6903M, STC rating of 49 (basis of design).

2.2MATERIALS

Retain paragraphs below only if materials described are required for assembled products. Correlate content of retained paragraphs with that of Operable Panel Partition Schedule at end of Part3. Consider deleting this Article if products are adequately specified by performance requirements.

  1. Steel Face/Liner Sheets: Tension-leveled steel sheet, not less than 0.0478-inch (1.2-mm (1.5-mm) nominal specified thickness for uncoated steel.

Usually delete all steel thicknesses in paragraph above as tested acoustical performance usually dictates core composition, including steel sheet thickness, if any steel sheet. Retain one value above to suit products selected or to qualify impact resistance of panels.

  1. Gypsum Board: ASTMC36.

Insert requirements in any of three paragraphs below describing fire-retardant-treated, wood-based panel products, if necessary, to suit Project and product and to comply with requirements of authorities having jurisdiction. See Division6 Sections.

  1. Plywood: DOCPS1.
  2. Particleboard: ANSIA208.1.
  3. Medium-Density Fiberboard: ANSIA208.2.

2.3OPERABLE PANEL PARTITIONS

  1. Panel Construction: Provide top reinforcement as required to support panel from suspension components and provide reinforcement for hardware attachment. Fabricate panels with tight hairline joints and concealed fasteners. Fabricate panels so finished in-place partition is rigid; level; plumb; aligned, with tight joints and uniform appearance; and free of bow, warp, twist, deformation, and surface and finish irregularities.

Revise paragraph below if custom-sized panels are required.

  3. Seals fitting tight at contact surfaces and sealing continuously between adjacent panels and between operable panel partition perimeter and adjacent surfaces, when operable panel partition is extended, closed, and in place.
  4. Vertical Seals: Deep-nesting, interlocking astragals mounted on each edge of panel, with continuous PVC acoustical seal.

If more than one STC-rated partition is required to suit Project, and, consequently, more than one description of horizontal top and bottom seals is needed, delete both paragraphs below and insert edited text in Operable Panel Partition Schedule at end of Part3.

  1. Horizontal Top Seals: Continuous-contact, extruded-PVC or PVC-faced, mechanical, retractable, constant-force-contact seal exerting uniform constant pressure on track when extended.

Revise paragraph below if continuous-contact seals can meet acoustical performance requirements and suit Project and product. Bottom seals correlate with STC values.

  1. Horizontal Bottom Seals: PVC-faced, mechanical, retractable, constant-force-contact seal exerting uniform constant pressure on floor when extended, ensuring horizontal and vertical sealing and resisting panel movement.
  2. Mechanically Operated: Extension and retraction of bottom seal by operating handle or built-in operating mechanism, with operating range not less than the 2-inch (50-mm) operating clearance between retracted seal and floor finish.

Revise paragraph below if track is mounted directly to structural support.

  1. Suspension Tracks: Steel or aluminum with adjustable steel hanger rods for overhead support, designed for type of operation, size, and weight of operable panel partition indicated. Size track to support partition operation and storage without damage to suspension system, operable panel partitions, or adjacent construction.
