SECONDARY PARTNER SCOPE OF WORK

GOAL: The secondary partners shall work closely with their respective community college partner and others within the respective regional hub to further develop, align, and implement a career pathway program in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT)in either: 1) Design, Visual, Media Arts; 2) Information Services and Support; or 3) Software Systems and Development at the high school level. Each collaborative college and high school partner shall work together to determine the best strategy for implementing localized key components of the Linked Learning.

CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION OUTCOME MEASURES FOR LA HI-TECH SECONDARY PARTNERS
  1. Number of K12 students enrolled in DVMA, ISS, or SSD career pathway programs.
  2. Number of K12 students who successfully participate in the DVMA, ISS, or SSD career pathways programs (Grade C or better in CTE courses).
  3. Number of K12 students participating in internships, work-based learning, mentoring, job shadowing opportunities, work experience, and student leadership organizations as part of the career pathways program.

Personnel /
  • Identify potential school leaders who have demonstrated the ability to drive student outcomes; canprovide the leadership skills essential for program success; and can integrate high school, college,and work-based learning experiences;

Recruitment and Program Development /
  • Work with their respective community college partner to recruit a student cohort from the highschool that is broadly representative of the overall school population, including students withspecial needs for enrollment in the career pathway;
  • Work with higher education, workforce development entities, and industry partners to developseamless transitions for students into postsecondary education, employment, and or training;
  • Establish opportunities for all students to:
  • Accelerate into community college courses while still in high school.
  • Participate in appropriately sequenced work-place experiences to make informed choicesamong postsecondary options.
  • Develop personal dispositions such as time management, collaboration, problem-solving,leadership, study skills, communication, and analytical skills, which are required for successin the workplace.

Matching Resources /
  • Dedicate respective resources for the sustainability of the project for Years 4 and 5 of the grant that consist of in-kind, monetary, staffing and/or equipment contributions.
  • Commit to maximize available funding streams (in addition to grant funding), to support the needs of participating students.
  • Leverage, connect and build upon existing investments in education and workforce development.
  • Leverage and build the respective consortium members’ Linked Learning activities and certified pathways, Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006 funding and activities.
  • California Partnership Academies, and the Regional Occupational Centers and Programs (ROCPs) including staff knowledge, community relationship, and course development.
  • Leverage matching resources and in-kind contributions from public, private, and philanthropic sources.
  • Leverage the California Community Colleges Economic and Workforce Development Program and its sector strategies and deputy sector navigators as well as leverage participation in the local California Community Colleges Skills Panel.

Workplan:Develop a workplan for each category with corresponding activities. Overall, the workplan should include the following:

1)Identify achievable goals for all categories and activities;

2)Develop outcomes for each goal;

3)Identify strategies used to meet each goal;

4)Include activities listed above; and

5)Identify key indicators to measure outcomes.
