On building up the flock every church needs to be constantly repairing its membership because life is dynamic. Change is constant, but this constant change presents some opportunities. New people in our church will mean new ideas and new faith levels.
The members of Prairie View UMC need to see the real opportunities in change. This is what we do! We invite people to church and to small groups. (Consider the value of inviting young adults and young families.) INVITE People to come and if there is no response – keep asking! By keeping our membership in good repair, we will be achieving our ultimate goal of growing more Christians. – Ron Rickenbach – Education Chair.

Christian Atheist Study and Sermon Series!
Beginning Sunday October 16th, we will begin an all church six week study and sermon series on a book called “The Christian Atheist.” The DVD based study will be hosted in homes and the signup sheet, as well as the books, will be available during worship the next two Sundays. If you have never taken part in a small group study, I highly recommend this one! Please prayerfully consider joining a group and be ready join in! The following is an introduction to the book:
Does your belief in God impact your life? If the answer is no, you may be a Christian Atheist. A Christian Atheist is someone who believes in God, but lives like He doesn't exist--you believe in God, but worry all the time, or you believe in God, but trust money more. InThe Christian Atheist, Pastor Craig Groeschel shares from his own journey of growing up in a "Christian" household, but the most that faith required was to attend church several times a year.
“The more I looked, the more I found Christian Atheists everywhere.” And after over a decade of successful ministry, he had to make a painful self admission: although he believed in God, he was leading his church like God didn’t exist. To Christians and non-Christians alike, to the churched and the unchurched, the journey leading up to Groeschel’s admission and the journey that follows—from his family and his upbringing to the lackluster and even diametrically opposed expressions of faith he encountered—will look and sound like the story of their own lives.
When Groeschel discovered that the real key to faith is intimacy with God, everything changed. Now the founding and senior pastor of the multicampus, pace-setting LiveChurch.tv, Groeschel’s personal journey toward a more authentic God-honoring life is more relevant than ever. Christians and Christian Atheists everywhere will be nodding their heads as they are challenged to take their own honest moment and ask the question: am I putting my whole faith in God but still living as if everything was up to me? Discover a powerful, intimate relationship with God for yourself and you'll never be the same.
Blessings to us all as we undertake this study together!
Pastor Mark
