First Quarter

MondayBrainstorm words for each spelling patterns.

TuesdaySpell words “triangle” method.

Wednesday“See, Say, Cover, Print, Check” by writing words three times each

Use hand motions to help remember:

  • See – point to eyes (look at the word)
  • Say – point to mouth (say the word out loud)
  • Cover – clap hands together horizontally (cover the word with your hand)
  • Print – make “swooping” motion as if something has gone through a printer (write the word)
  • Check – make a large check mark in the air (check to see if you spelled the word correctly)
  • Repeat this process three times in a row with your first word. Then start again at the beginning with your next word.

ThursdayFree choice includes doing one of the following:

Invisible words:

  1. Write the words with a “paintbrush” in the air, spelling the word aloud.
  2. Write the words with a “tiny” pencil spelling the word with a “tiny voice.”
  3. Write the words with a “huge” pencil spelling the word with a “deep voice”.
  4. Write the words in the “sand” spelling the word aloud.
  5. Spell the words on someone’s back.
  6. Spell the words out loud in the car or at bed time.
  7. Spell the words letter-by-letter as you move up step-by-step. Or – spell the words letter-by-letter as you take a giant step each time.

For any of these choices, spell the words three times each.

  • Write a sentence to describe which method was chosen.
  • Parents need to place initials by the sentence.
