Dear colleagues!
We are very thankful to you for your acceptance of our proposal to take part in the international conference in commemoration of outstanding meteorologist Lev Nikolaievitch Gutman «Mesoprocesses in Meteorology and Air Pollution» (Mesoscale Meteorology and Air Pollution).
All of the theses sent by you have been received, accepted and will be published as an official record of the conference.
We remind that the conference is planned for 15-17 September 2008 and will be held on the premises of Odessa State Environmental University.
For successful organization and holding of the conference we would like to provide you with some information on the place for the conference and our requests related to your journey.
The City of Odessa was founded by the Decree of Russian Empress Catherine II in 1794 and XIX century witnessed a swift development of the port and the city. The new city quickly became a major success - one of the most beautiful ones in the Russian Empire, the recognized center of trade, industry, transport, culture and education in the south of the country. Presently, in spite of general decline of economic activity in the newly independent Ukraine (economic and political crises), Odessa still stands its ground as a leader in the field of trade, financial activity and logistics.

Odessa is a large transport nodal point of Ukraine with Odessa International Airport, sometimes called "Odessa Central", which serves both domestic flights and ones to many European and Middle East capitals. Scheduled flights to quite a number of destinations in the neighbouring countries are possible only via Kyiv. There exists a high-quality direct railway and bus service to take you to Odessa. Coaches leave straight from Boryspil International Airport, 29 km east of Kyiv. (see Appendix 1)
Odessa is an acknowledged center of tourism and possesses a wide variety of possibilities in granting services of accommodation - hotels, recreation centers and health resorts. We offer you the list of some of the hotel complexes of various degrees of comfort and standards of prices so that you will be able to take advantage of the data for making an informed choice. (see Appendix 2)
As is specified in the first call, the conference will be held on the premises of Odessa State Environmental University. (See a helicopter view of the district where the conference is going to be held. Marked with pointers are the objects of the University Campus) The University has a student preventive clinic with single and double rooms. The cost of one-day stay for one person comprises UAH 120 (»USD 25). The rooms have such conveniences as a lavatory, a shower with hot water, a television set, a refrigerator plus high-quality service. In addition, there is a student canteen nearby, where, inexpensive three meals a day can optionally be arranged (enhanced menu UAH 40-50 » USD 10 a day, conventional (student) menu » UAH 10-15 a day). It is natural that we are interested in all of the participants living, having meals and working on the premises, however, it does not and should not prevent you from finding the services that would suit you best.[1]. We sincerely hope that it is not too much to request of you to let us know beforehand about the method of getting the abovementioned services that would prove preferable for you.

1. A total of 44 applications for participation in the conference has been received. Only two speakers were registered from Odessa, four from other regions of Ukraine, and the rest from the near abroad and other foreign countries. Solitary reports are to be presented by one author, the rest – by a few coauthors, though it is only in a few of the theses that who the main speaker will be is clearly indicated. Therefore we would kindly request to specify who the main speaker is and who else of your team will be able to come.
2. Unfortunately, the organizational Committee does not possess considerable funds to help all of the persons who are interested to arrive at our conference. Therefore present facilities from the European structures will be expended in payment of charges of a few invited speakers and some of the participants from Siberia and the Transcaucasus (only transport charges). We address a delicate request to those of you who will not be able to arrive at a conference independently, or who, by virtue of various circumstances, has already made a decision to resort to publication of theses to let us know about your decision well in advance.
3. If you have any questions in relation to the best variant of getting to Odessa from your city – we are ready to consult anyone, who will be in need of any kind of additional information (also see Appendix 1).
4. We kindly ask you to inform us on the date and time of you arrival to Odessa in good time, not later than 1 August, so that we could arrange meeting you at the airport and transfer to the place of temporary residence of your choice.
