About us:

We are a registered charity providing specialist respite holidays and practical and emotional support too seriously- ill children and their families. The children and young people we support battle with life-limiting or life threatening conditions, whilst their parents and carers provide around the clock care to help them.

The charity was formed in 2004 to fulfil the last wish of nine-year-old Sebastian Gates to build a holiday home that would give other children a chance to enjoy precious time with their families. Our respite holiday house, The Bluebells, opened in July 2011and is now welcoming families with very sick children from all over the country.

We are also committed to a programme of practical support, helping families in the community in a variety of different ways; including transportation to and from specialist hospitals, equipment provision, well-being therapies for parents and support for siblings.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organised and compassionate person to manage our respite holiday facility, The Bluebells. The post-holder will be required to work 2 days per week and provide occasional on-call emergency support.

The post-holder will work within our rapidly expanding Family Services Team maintaning the respite holiday facility and assisting the House Manager with bookings. They will provide direct support to the whole family unit to help aid their journey through the child’s illness during their stay or visit.

Functions to include:

General/Administrative:

-Booking and processing days visits, pool use, music therapy, art and wellbeing therapy. Keeping up-to-date and accurate records.

-Processing payments including maintaining accurate records

-Organising events as allocated by the HOFS

-Maintaining a safe work environment, in line with Health and Safety policies

-To safeguard children, young people and adults in line with safeguarding policies and practices

-Meeting and greeting families and acting as a first point of call to assist them with their needs

-Provide weekly family session of support

Maintanence:

-Ensuring a high level of maintanence on the premises; to include the grounds, through the actioning and processing of regular maintanence checks

-Completion of changover process

-Ensuring that the apartments and communal areas are clean, in line with the infection control policy and established cleaning routines

-Supervision of contractors

Location: To be based at the Bluebells, weekend and flexible working hours required

Contract:2 days per week

Salary:£7,200 per annum
