News

Heater Pads:

·  Peter concludes 4 mm bulge could lead to condensation; 2 cm gap should be OK due to heat-spreading of copper.

·  Pads are being removed because of concerns about lines of sight for insertion in TRT and condensation..

Heater Pad Wiring:

·  On-going.

Stiffener:

·  Need around end-April.

·  Start with left & right parts.
Martin’s first attempt to produce CF-foam sandwich for C&G Joinery failed due to problems with vacuum-bagging.

·  John needs to revisit to allow for Bubbler for top & bottom parts.

Fittings & Fixtures:

·  Inserts for Rear Flange (3 types) – arrived; will get W/s to add Kapton discs.

·  Martin gave Crimper to Paul.

RS Assembly @ CERN

Basically went well, although lack of infrastructure reported to Patrick/Paul/Heinz.

·  Rear G&S Membrane took 1 day to put in holes & folds.

·  Hole punching in Rear Thermal Pad looks better than water cut!

·  Transparent Templates were very useful – better to make them half (rather than quarter) sections.

·  No problems with Inserts – don’t need to be glued in.

·  Washer worked well and movement of Membrane was possible.

Priorities (in order of importance)

John

1.  Revisit Stiffener/Spider for Brian – by 17 Mar.

2.  Communicate to Patrick about ITE mods – by 20 Mar.

·  Mods for N2 delivery in Clamps

·  Holes in Flange for inserts (or otherwise).

3.  Update of Rear Support Assembly drawings – by 24 Mar.

4.  Heater Pad locations & wiring[1]; sign-off sheets – EC-C by 31 Mar; 2 more days for EC-A.

5.  While completing Heater Pads, check clearance with TRT and bend radius on OTE tabs.

6.  Release drawings.

7.  Produce Inventory of what is still to be sent.

8.  Design tool for tightening Inserts on Rear/Front Wings.

9.  Complete Stiffener drawings (top/bottom): need holes for bubbler & check aperture for pipes; get made in Workshop.

10.  Foam in-fill pieces for STFT around Cooling: make mods for DCS; get made in Workshop.

11.  Copy drawings to CDD.

Martin

1.  Prepare for tests of Helicoflex seals.

2.  Organise Workshop to add Kapton discs to Inserts.

3.  Write up Assembly work at CERN.

4.  Complete write-up for stress-relief of G&S Membranes.

5.  Prepare Stiffener sandwich.

6.  Tool for lifting Front Membranes.

Stephen

1.  Copy Mins to MDG/TD-010.

Valencia & CERN

1.  Return Foam & Cu-Kapton (probably) when finished.

Helicoflex Seals:

·  WS skimming surfaces of connectors – chase.

·  Checked Leak Detector – missing a filter – Leybold will send 6 Mar.

·  Need He – check arrived.

·  Need regulators.

·  Have Mike’s instruction.

·  Need torque settings from Ian.

Task List for Thermal Enclosure

6 Mar 06

OTE

·  Drawing [JN, by 4 Mar; checked by Steve Carr]

·  Gasket design [JN, wb 7 Mar]

·  Procure materials [JN,PF]

·  Dry Airex

·  Alochrome or Ni-plate for Al [observe Barrel]

·  Manufacture CF Flanges & Ultem Inserts

·  Tests

o  Test stiffness and deformation.

o  Test with Short Test Cylinder (STC), by putting some simple adjustable rails on.

o  Test a prototype OTE band on End-cap using production Rails; check Service clearance.

RTE

·  Drawings & Work Instructions (understand how to make holes)

·  Ship Airex & Kapton to CERN – don’t ship Rear Support Panel (need to modify for Alignment targets)

·  Manufacture Inserts

·  Resolve G&S connection with ITE

ITE

·  Test Channel with Kapton

·  N2 Holes [PF]

·  Design filter [JN]

·  Support for assembly [where can this be tested?]

·  Drawings & Work Instructions

·  Ship Airex, Kapton & Foil to CERN

·  Modify ITE Clamps – for gas distribution pipes

Heaters

·  Discuss with Marko Mikuz.

Rails

·  Check Drawings [JN]

·  Some concern about precision of Inserts – good to test the pre-production Rail on SC in Lpool.

·  Decide number of Rails on how floppy the prototype is.

·  Two types of Rail designed: over Fixations need cut-outs.

·  Manufacture

LMT Cooling

·  Foil design

·  Clip design – in discussion with Jason

·  Assembly instructions

·  Manufacture of Foils, extra Clips (for LMT Cooling Pipes)

Membranes

·  Consider stiffness
