Conditions

  1. The Tournament will be conducted under the rules of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). A player shall be qualified to enter a Scottish National Championships providing the player satisfies all of the following regulations:

(a)is in good standing with BADMINTONscotland or a BWF Member Association

(b)has not represented any other Member Association for two years immediately preceding the date of the tournament;

(c)has not competed in the National Championships of any other Member Association for two years preceding the tournament;

(d)either

(i)was born in Scotland or one or both parents were born in Scotland

or

(ii)has held their main residence in Scotland for two years immediately preceding the date of the tournament

To “be in good standing” includes being a member of a club/school affiliated to BADMINTONscotland/Scottish Schools' Badminton or individually affiliated thereto or to a Member Association of the BWF.

2.The declarations on the Entry Form must be completed by each competitor. A Parent’s/Guardian’s Signature is mandatory.

3.Initially the tournament will be played in pools of one game to 21 points with setting if required. Thereafter all players will progress to an appropriate knock-out tournament.Players will not receive advice from a coach at any time during a match.

4.Yonex feather shuttlecocks will be used.

5.Players absent when called on to play may be scratched.

6.A separate entry form must be used by each player.

7.No pair shall be accepted for a Doubles Event unless Entry Forms have been received from both players. Players indicating “partner required” will be paired where possible.

8.The Committee reserve the right to refuse entry without giving their reasons.

9.Entries must be sent to BADMINTONscotland, Cockburn Centre, 40 Bogmoor Place, Glasgow G51 4TQ, accompanied by the appropriate Entry Fees, NOT LATER THAN MONDAY 23APRIL 2018. On line entry is also available on No start times will be posted as this information will be e-mailed direct to competitors no later than Wednesday 9 May 2018. A stamped addressed envelope should be enclosed only if you wish acknowledgement of receipt of entry form and fees.

10.Late entries and entries sent without the appropriate entry fees are unlikely to be accepted. Late entries may only be accepted at the discretion of the tournament director. A financial penalty is imposed by BADMINTONscotland of £5 per event for late entries to these Championships.

11.No entry will be accepted from any player who has taken part in any unauthorised Tournament, League or Match.

12.Players must hold themselves ready to play not later than 9.30 am. Exact schedule will depend on the number of entries in each event. Players must be in attendance 20 minutes before the start time of each event. The draw will be published on our website no later than Wednesday9 May 2018. It is anticipated play will continue no later than 5.00 pm.

13.Regarding unannounced withdrawals from tournaments, a warning letter will be sent on the first offence and on a subsequent offence the matter will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee.

14.The tournament will be conducted according to the tournament regulations of BADMINTONscotland, including the prohibition of doping for which tests may be carried out. BADMINTONscotland is opposed to the use of drugs in sport and is a member of and subject to the anti-doping jurisdiction of the Badminton World Federation. The Anti-Doping Rules of the Scottish Badminton Union Ltd are the UK Anti-Doping Rules published by the Drug Free Sport Directorate of UK Sport (or its successor) as amended from time to time, a copy of which can be accessed on the BADMINTONscotland website – . Such rules shall take effect and be construed as the rules of the Scottish Badminton Union. You are reminded that many common asthma medications, and medicaments used for other common medical conditions may require the player to apply for a Therapeutic Exemption Certificate and/or Declaration of Use from UK Sport.

15.It is a condition of entry to all events that players shall be prepared, if requested, to undertake a drug test involving the provision of a urine sample under qualified supervision, for subsequent analysis. The drug testing consent section of the entry form must be completed by the parent or guardian.

16.Photographs and footage recorded during the event and information provided on this form may be used for promotional purposes. Players must advise the Referee on arrival at the Championships if they do not wish to be included in photographs or film footage which may be taken over the course of the Championships.

17.CLOTHING AND ADVERTISING. Clothing and advertising must conform to the Badminton World Federation Regulations.

18.The Committee reserves the right to change the format of this event dependent on entries.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ONLINE ENTRY

If you wish to enter on line and have not used the online entry system before, you require to go to the website, "Sign Up" (for free) and follow the instructions. These are fairly easy to follow but if you have any problems the following is a summary of what is required:-

Sign Up, set up a user name and password along with your details, name address, date of birth, gender, email address, etc. Once you have registered you will be asked to "activate" your account by clicking on the "activation" link on an email that tournamentsoftware sends to your email address.

When your account is activated you should "login" and edit your "Profile" by inputting the required information in the different fields of the topics "Personal Details", "Contact Details", which requires at least one phone number, and "Sport Details", which requires you to select your sport (Badminton) and you must enter a "Strength" in singles and doubles. Select "A". This field is only used in other countries where the tournaments have different "Strengths" for events within their tournaments. If you know your BADMINTONscotland player ID Number (begins SC – and can be found on BADMINTONscotland website) please include this as your member ID and remember to enter the name of the club/school through which you are affiliated to BADMINTONscotland or type “Individual” if you are affiliated as an individual. If you are affiliated through another Member Association of the Badminton World Federation please enter the name of the Member Association.
