GREAT SPORT NEEDS GREAT COACHES
The Regional Trainers Club (RTC) for all trainers on the BD database and accredited BE and BSJA trainers aims to offer great opportunities for trainers to develop their coaching skills. Following the introduction of the UKCC (UK Coaching Certificate) we aim to provide the training required to attain the necessary skills at each level in order to achieve the UKCC. Generic levels one and two are up and running. Pilot schemes are being run by BD, BSJA and BE for Level 3 and once they are complete, training and assessment will be available for level 3. Levels 4 and 5 will follow. Even if you choose not to take the UKCC you are continuing professional development (CPD). As a BD registered trainer you will automatically be included in the RTC. However if you do not wish to be included and to receive regular mailings/updates, please let the RDO know.

A series of evening to promote senior regional training and to discuss senior teams, all on the same basis as currently being done for BYRDS. The evening will take the form of a couple of guinea pigs being put through their paces with a BD Trainer and BD judge and this will be followed by a discussion with the trainer and judge. This will then be followed by a social evening with a glass of wine and nibbles. There will be no charge for these evenings. Dates organised so far are 28th October – Fountain EC, Aberdeen at 7.00 p.m. and 29th October at Angus RDA centre at 7.00 p.m. Please contact RDO to let her know if you wish to attend any of the evenings. Further evenings will be held in other areas in the spring of next year.
THE HAND HOME INTERNATIONAL 11th/12th October 2008. There will be an International Team Championship open to senior (18 years and over) members of British Dressage & Dressage Ireland including a Freestyle to Music Championship Evening Gala at The Hand Equestrian Centre, Cleveland, North Somerset. It is hoped that Scotland can send 3 teams. Classes range from Prelim to PSG. If you would like to be considered for this competition could you please contact RDO and intimate your interest.
DRESSAGE TO MUSIC. Dressage to music or “Kur” is an exciting part of our sport. It combines the grace and movement of the horse with music chosen to suit the horse’s personality and paces. Most riders really enjoy competing in these classes, finding the addition of music and the fun and interest that this extra facet involves. If you would like to find out more about dressage to music please send C5 SAE to RDO for fact sheet.
VOLUNTEER REGISTER. The Scottish Volunteer’s newsletter is enclosed and we would welcome any help that you can give us to maintain and improve the standard of dressage currently being achieved in Scotland.
