First Six Weeks
BTII 1(A) The student will identify employment opportunities, including entrepreneurship, and preparation requirements for the building trades.
BTII 1(B) The student will demonstrate the principle group participation and leadership related to citizenship and career preparation.
BTII 1(C) The student will identify employer’s expectations and appropriate work habits.
BTII 1(D) The student will apply the competencies related to resource, information, interpersonal, systems and technology in appropriate settings and situations.
BTII 1(E) The student will demonstrate knowledge of the concepts and skills related to health and safety in the workplace, as specified by appropriate government regulations.
Second Six Weeks
BTII 4(A) The student will safely use hand and power tools and equipment commonly employed in the building trades.
BTII 4(B) The student will handle and dispose humanly and/or environmentally hazardous materials used in the building trades.
BTII 4(C) The student will safely use the different type of scaffolding employed in the building trades.
BTII 4(D) The student will demonstrate knowledge of new and emerging technologies which may affect the building trades.
Third Six Weeks
BTII 2(A) The student will demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills with individuals from varied cultures, including fellow workers, management, and customers.
BTII 2(B) The student will successfully complete work and materials orders and related paperwork.
BTII 2(C) The student will estimate supplies, materials, and labor cost.
BTII 2(D) The student will read and interpret blueprints, drawing, charts, instructions, and diagrams.
Forth Six weeks
BTII 3(A) The student will demonstrate knowledge of concrete placement and finishing procedures.
BTII 3(B) The student will demonstrate knowledge of the processes utilized in the construction of footings, piers, pilasters, chimneys, fireplaces, and arches.
BTII 3(D) The student will demonstrate knowledge of the installation of electric service, wiring, and fixtures.
BTII 3(E) The student will demonstrate knowledge of the basic principles of painting, and decorating.
BTII 3(F) The student will demonstrate knowledge of the process and sequence of installing external and internal plumbing in residential construction.
BTII 3(G) The student will demonstrate knowledge of the appropriate building codes which apply to residential and commercial construction.
Fifth Six Weeks
BTII 5(A) The student will square, measure, and cut materials to specified dimensions.
BTII 5(B) The student will rig and handle different types of loads and uses the proper hand signals at the job site.
BTII 5(C) The student will utilize framing techniques for walls, floors, ceilings, rafters, structural timbers, stairs, trusses, and fireproof metal-studs.
BTII 5(D) The student will demonstrate the proper principles of drywall application.
BTII 5(E) The student will install doors, windows, and interior and exterior wall covering and trim.
BTII 5(F) The student will mix cement/concrete to specifications.
BTII 5(G) The student will place and spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency.
Sixth Six weeks
BTII 5(H) The student will install electrical switch and outlet boxes, commercial service entrance, power panel, power feeders, internal and external light fixture, and receptacles and conduit.
BTII 5(I) The student will fabricate, assemble, and install metallic and nonmetallic pipe and piping systems.
BTII 5(J) The student will install plumbing fixtures.
BTII 5(K) The student will apply paint primers and finish coats to various types of surfaces with hand and power tools.
BTII 5(L) The student will apply the essential knowledge and skills in the building trades to work-base learning experiences including, but not limited to, cooperative training, job shadowing, mentoring, and apprenticeship training.
